seriously...do it right...buy the OEM peice...not worth bolloxing up your 500 dollar kouki tail lights for
but to answer your question...there is a whole lot of cutting and smoothing involved with the metal peice...and for the most part isnt worth the time and effort to do (3-4 hours of making the peice fit right compared to the 15 min of bolting up the kouki conversion peice)

Agreed. It's like trying to make a Silvia hood fit a pop-up front end by cutting the corners off and rolling them to clear the headlights, sure you can do it but you're going to spend more money in supplies than it's worth.

you don't have to modify it i've seen it done the only difference between them is the kouki piece bends up to meet more flush under the taillights.... ive seen people not use that piece just to keep the same color as there car and it doesn't look bad at all. the kouki one looks better for sure but not using it doesn't look bad at all.

That's like S14 guys saying their car looks good without a grille. Anytime you have a gap in body panels that clearly doesn't belong, it looks like shit.

Make the piece out of papier-mâché.
I like S14's without grilles.
