View Full Version : JDM Kouki Valences, yes or no?
I've got an S14. I've already installed a JDM Kouki front bumper (no lip), USDM kouki side-skirts, and JDM rear bumper.
The USDM sides match very nicely with the front bumper (without lip).
I haven't installed the valences yet because I think it doesn't really match the side skirts.
Just wondering if anyone else had the same observations.

the us valences do not look as good with the skirts...BTW the skirts are the same as the jdm ones. But to make if flow best you need the JDM rear bumber. thats my opinion

The side skirts that come on US kouki S14s are the exact same ones that come on JDM kouki S14s - the JDM rear bumper only came on kouki S14s as well...therefore the rear valances are designed to flow with the kouki side skirts.
The white car posted above has JDM zenki side skirts - which happen to also look good with the kouki valances and rear bumper.

dude you gotta get the lip its shitty without it, i say leave the valences off though.
Thank you very much for the reference pictures.
In my opinion..
the JDM Zenki sides match the rear valences and front with lip.
Yes, I agree, the Kouki sides do look good with valences...I guess it just bothered me that the "top" part of the valences matches the 'top' of the Zenki sides better.
Thanks again for your pics.

I just want to clearify that they are NOT zenki sideskirts.
They are japanese factory AERO, comes standard on all Kouki K's aero and Q's aero.
Please stop calling them Zenki sideskirts, they are japanese oem sideskirts.
If you can photos of the S14 kouki Nissan brochure, you'll sell the aero trim.
Cheers,

how come people put the greddy lip with stock sides, whether optional or stock kouki. . . the don't flow
no one rocks the rest of the greddy kit?

the only thing I don't like about the kouki sideskirts is that they are interupting the body line from the front bumper to the rear valence. With the Zenki sideskirts the line continues from front to back and ties the entire kit together. Just my $.02

I think that with a greddy lip the zenki sides should be used, because it adds that body line to the front bumper. An OEM lip doesn't though, it keeps the lines how they should be.

I always thought, and actually have seen, that the 'Zenki' sideskirts only came on 94-96 JDM cars. Hence calling them Zenki. I've never seen a JDM Kouki stock with the larger skirts, only the smaller ones that we got here. The brochures and Silvia bibles I've seen all show stock Koukis with Kouki sideskirts, even with the full aero package.
Of course over here most guys use the 'Zenki' skirts on a Kouki, I actually think they look better that way while the Kouki sides look better on a Zenki.

Russ,
They are listed under the optional accessories. It was towards the back, and also in the little pull out leaflet thing. I will get picks up later.

I have always understood it as russ explained. but i have the greddy front bumper with the optional (taller zenkis) sides and kouki rear with side valences. i also have the navan front bumper. i cant decide i really like them both

man this thread's confusing. people keep saying jdm this jdm that kouki this kouki that. usdm this...
can't you keep it simple? kouki side skirts and zenki side skirts. there are only 2 types of skirts that came on the s14s and 2 types of rear bumpers and 2 types of valences.
kouki skirts match with kouki rear bumper and rear valence.
kouki skirt w/ kouki rear bumper and w/o rear valence looks wack and incomplete.
zenki sideskirts with kouki rear bumper and kouki rear valences looks good too imo.
to each their own though.

my reasoning was this: what we refer to as jdm zenki sides were only available in japan and have been available since the zenki came out
the kouki on the other hand were only available since the launch of the kouki face lift and they are the same both in japan and the us. thus they are kouki.

i had absolutely no clue what you guys were talking about when you were saying valence, ive only ever heard people call them rear pods. anyways i reckon the navan/zenki side skirts suits well with the pods but i rather prefer that little twist in the stock kouki skirts ones. but either way both side skirts suit the rear pods/valences and either way if you have to put them on otherwise the car will look like somethings missing IMO.
