So i finally got a 240sx! My Mom decided she did not want me 2 beat on her G35 anymore =D man that car is fun!

Ok i need to kno how many cans of flat black paint will it take to paint this coupe! soon as i saw it i fell in love wit it but not the color its LAVENDER!!! very gay:nono: but for 400bucks running :naughtyd: cant complain! but other than that its all right gonna swap in a DOHC its a 89 SOHC. My bro gave me a early gift 4 Christmas his black 93 fastback which rusted into 2 pieces! ROTFLMFAO!! I So Have To Take Pics Of that and post them!! this weekend!

it has that sexy problem of manual steering breaks a shot and clutch is shot get some hydraulic at the Bottom of the clutch pedal this shit was bought on the poor and keeping it on the poor anyone want to donate any old parts please let me know i would really appreciate it. shocking the one thing all u guys are gonna say WOW about is that it has VERY VERY SLIGHT RUST!!!! WOW im still shocked 4 a 89 and its only surface rust under the passenger door and driver side :hs: so if anyone has any old crap i will welcome it with open hands! Also looking 4 friends with 240's in the area Queens

I feel your pain when I look at that dent in the 1/4 although mine is not that bad. Ouch. 400 bucks is awesome and a rare color is awesome but maybe you should use that as a parts car and find a better base to start off with? I don't know if you have a body work hook up. You could straighten it out as much as possible and go widebody to cover some of that up. GL w/the build.

i bought my first and current 240 in immaculate condition for 1500.
i then bought a black '90, complete with a dead sohc, for 200. it had one dented fender.
but this was a few years ago. at any rate, i wouldn't have paid money for a car with quarter panel damage. good luck on the repairs, it's probably not as bad as it looks.

Nice man finally got a 240. I know how that feels...I have been on the forums for awhile and after I finally got one I was so happy. My first 240SX had an SR20 and a type X body kit it was clean and had no problems wats so ever and I loved it. After awhile of owning it I had to sell it becuz my parents saw me doing donuts in it...and they thought the car was unsafe. So then I didnt have a 240SX for awhile and then I got another 1 for 2500 after driving it for awhile I started to discover that the breaks were dying and there were problems occurring in it. So I partially gutted it and am in the process and I am going to take this project slow and easy and make it to a nice ass 240 that I am proud to drive and people can look up to. Welcome to Zilvia and hope you find these resources and build threads very helpful to you. I learn a lot from this site and nico heres a link 4 a few pointers and good luck.

I got an 87 celica ST for $400 last july. Body had work done some time in its life, and the interior was pretty good for its age... 5 speed and leaked oil from the cam seal, but it ran like a top.

I would do like others said and use that as a parts car. I dunno about you, but I like frame rails. They keep me from getting smooshed in an impact.

Contrary to popular ricer belief, having your frame rails rot away does not count as weight reduction.

After re-reading his post, if your mom drives a G35 why in HELL would she let you buy something in such bad shape? Obviously she has enough money that you don't need a 400$ shell...

Also to be constructive, I'm sure there is rust, I would definitely take a look under the car and make sure the frame rail is straight as others have pointed out. You may also want to look into the floor pan etc.

well for your how many cans question,it takes 30 cans to do a full outside job, not including inside the doors,trunk gutter thing, or under the hood. get the dollar flat blck cans from walmart and you could have a $30.00 dollar paint job like this

Thanks alot i bought 30 cans 4 $31.50 =D ok guys seriously before i bought the car i put it on a lift and looked the dent on the side has no frame damage at all my friend who does body work came with me to buy the car the car runs has no frame rust the only real problem this car body wise ever had was the previous owner when the breaks went out slid into his car in the drive way and cracked the bumper and dented the hood very slight. nothing structral is damaged but that quarter panle. all i need to buy that i dont have is some good suspinsion and that aint yet cause broke! more worryed about getting the brakes fixed any ways thanks all u guys who care

go to the junkyard and get both fenders and a door. this would cost like fifty bucks around here, your mileage may vary. this will be less bodywork later. replacing a panel is easier than bondoing it. pick up some seven spokes while you're there.
while you're at it, might as well get a chuki bumper since they look waaaaay better (OOOH TAKE THAT PIGNOSE). don't forget the extensions.

when you get filler from autozone, don't get Bondo, spend a few bucks more and get Dynalite. it's a much better product, in my opinion.

that rust looks nightmarish, at least on passenger rocker. if the rails are similar, i'd honestly just try to sell the car for what i paid. if the rails are solid, i'd go ahead and cut out the rust with a cutting wheel and get somebody to weld in some sheet. then i'd paint over the mess with rustoleum and cover it with some canadian side skirts. the rest of the rust doesn't look truly awful... you could probably get away with fiberglass bondo and mesh.

i'm about to start redoing bodywork on my 240.. ugh. TAKE YOUR TIME and do it right the first time. DO NOT rush your work, or the results will suck as bad as what you already have. i did all the work on my car when i was 18, and it really, really shows.

The car as is will be worth double what you will get for a dented up and rusty flat black car.

Rattle canning your car will not do shit for its looks, or make you a street racer.
It will make you a ricer.

If you leave the lavender frost, like you should, it will get respect at meets and throughout the 240 community as a whole. Its an original Lavender frost S13 with a trunk rack. I would keep it that way or sell/trade for a piece of shit you can rattle can and drift into a parked car.

doing a SOHC swap to DOHC is a waste of time and money. Its about 10 HP but lower compression. My SOHC is actually faster than the DOHC's on the track.

First thing you should do is return the paint, and buy a new oil filter and oil right away.
Oil change
flush the brake fluid
replace master cylinder for clutch
clean entire engine and watch for leaks over the next week
replace spark plugs
check brake lines for cracks
check fuel lines for cracks
look for worn bushings
flush radiator


thats where your money should go.
Once that stuff is done, the car will be with you long enough for you to start having bodywork done.

Rattle can is the fastest way to rice up a 240. Its pretending to be a nice satin paint job, but its not.

Ive decided to get it painted the flat black. I will put up more pics next week when the work starts getting done. But im painting it in a way that the lavender can be restored because I am planing to run this car into the ground. Never gonna be for sale and honestly I looked at some pics of it in lavender forest it does look good so instead of gray i might get it re done in that color. But as of now it has to go flat black.

The driver side low beam works but the high beam doesent and the passenger side is the oppisite and there both new bulbs. I checked the main wire for the head light and it has no cuts nothing looks fine. The only thing left to check is if the termnal has dirt in it (I will check after im done this) but can someone give me a idea?

I liked the look too. Fenders came used and cut, so fitment wasn't perfect. But Im 32, so flares on dished 15x8's was pretty cool to me. Like a little homage to the Zcars that proceeded the S13 :)


The driver side low beam works but the high beam doesn't. The passenger side has the opposite problem. Both bulbs are new.

I checked the main wire for the head light and it has no cuts. Everything looks in order. The only thing I can think of is that the terminal has dirt in it.
(I will check after I'm done e-thugging here.)
Does anyone have any other suggestions?
I'm at a loss.

Here, fixed your post a little for ya.

check the fuses and the relays.
relays are under one of those 2 little boxes under the hood. One of them will say something about lights, hi/low.
swap in relays out of your parts car.

Aztek red rawks, you smokin crack fool. I wan an aztec red coupe with a sil front for my daily. I would rock a lavender frost metallic coupe as well, the rarity of that color makes it worthwhile, but only if the car originally came that color.

Thanks alot i bought 30 cans 4 $31.50 =D ok guys seriously before i bought the car i put it on a lift and looked the dent on the side has no frame damage at all my friend who does body work came with me to buy the car the car runs has no frame rust the only real problem this car body wise ever had was the previous owner when the breaks went out slid into his car in the drive way and cracked the bumper and dented the hood very slight. nothing structral is damaged but that quarter panle. all i need to buy that i dont have is some good suspinsion and that aint yet cause broke! more worryed about getting the brakes fixed any ways thanks all u guys who care
