Strange my brother's just came out with no effort at all. I don't think there is a way to lube it right?

If all else fails, the best way is to ez out, i.e. weld something to the bolt and unscrew that way.

The locking plates don't help the cause because you need to put pressure on the screwdriver to grip the bolt, which puts pressure on the locking plates and prevents the bolt from turning.

Sometimes the threads seize and it becomes impossible to remove the bolts.

Once you get the bolts out, clean out the thread and apply antiseize compound on new countersunk bolts.

Good luck.

You basically need a huge screwdriver with a large head. Worst-case scenario, you get a set of these: Craftsman 3 pc. Deck-Out Screw and Bolt Removers - Model 52151 at Sears.com (http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00952151000P) and back it out that way.

One of these would be handy as well.
Craftsman Impact Driver - Model 47641 at Sears.com (http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00947641000P?vName=Tools&cName=Mechanics+Tools&sName=Automotive+Specialty+Tools)

I had this problem and I'm afraid if it's as bad as mine, that tool won't work. I didn't want to enlarge the hole and retap because the thread size is limited by the countersinking to make the bolt head flushed with the striker.

Easier to weld on something and back the bolt out that way.

Number three phillips head on an impact has always worked for me. if not, you're in pain.

Man up. Get a big ass phillips head and muscle those bishes! I have done it a lot of times before. If you are not man enough (LOL) just get a crapsman impact driver, it'll come out like butter with one of those.

i have never had a problem taking those off with an impact driver and BFH. give it a few nice "love taps" and it'll come out. try spraying it with penetrating oil.

PUSH man PUSH!!! seriously though- i unscrewed mine to adjust it, and all it took was a bit of muscle and a regular philips head screwdriver. and this was on an early 89 s13, manufactured like 20 years ago! to loosen it, try penetrating oil and then tap the back of a screwdriver, that should unseize them w/o the lock washers getting in the way
