Hi guys,

Just need a place to get this off my chest since saturday.

Last Friday, after work, I got on my car started warming up, I noticed the low motor oil light came on. I said to myself, that's strange..I did an oil change 3 weeks ago.

So i got out, popped the hood open, then i realized im stepping on a puddle of motor oil. Im like WTF??!!! So i had no choice but to call a flat bed to tow it to the shop I normally go. As I was waiting, i looked around the engine bay, i noticed that the filter was popped off. I'm like wtf? So I was thinking, it got to be the guy that did my oil change that didnt tighten up the filter. When i got to the shop, I showed to one of the guys at the shop, that the filter is loose and popped off. He told me he'll let me know the next morning.

When I got back the next morning, here was the lame ass excuse they gave me:

"There was a pinch on the oil hose, which caused the oil pressure to built up and some how it blew off the filter."

im like wtf? what kind of excuse is that? im thinking to myself, filters are twisted on...if there was SO much pressure, i think the hose would burst first before a filter WOULD FLY OFF....MOTHERFUCKER!!!

And i like how they said theyre done with the car, throw in 2 bolts to hold the bumper, some how my s15 headlight bracket are bent..and they fucking take no responsibilty and lied to me. Charging me for the fucking oil and i had to pay the towing fee meanwhile it was their mistake. And I know there was no point of arguing with them cause they're already denying it from the start.

What a shop that i thought i can trust on. I always go to them to get things done, but when they fuck up, they cant admit that it was their fault.
Its A-OKAY. I'll take my shit to someone else.

THANKS INITIAL D /ADVAN,

i never like that shop, even when i went there, asking for seibon hood, charging me 600$ for oem style when i can get them for 400$. they like to take extra money in your pocket. never go to that shop, "INITIAL D /ADVAN," ever again!

I just can't believe what they did...I bring my car there to install stuff, and when someone asks me where is a good place to go to. I recommended Initial D/ Advan. and this is how theyre gona treat their customers..Very disappointing..

Bro, dont get me wrong...it is easy...i said the same exact thing back then, but when you dont really have tools and space at home, shop is the only place to go...

and if youre going to ask me why not at your friends backyard or something, I really hate to bother people. they have their own time and space, but i know theyre down to help if its emergency....

Yeah that Initial D/Advan shop is a rip off all together. My friend used to buy parts and go there and from what i hear how much he pays for stuff, it sounds like a ripoff and any other shop would be a lot cheaper along with buying parts online.

an oil pan (for collecting), 14mm wrench, and jackstands (or not if you don't care about safety) is not a whole lot of tools. Space is anywhere you can park.
I don't know what life in NYC is like, but I'm willing to bet there are public lots you could do it at.

Everything is so tight over, It's mad hard to even do it in the street when people park within 3 inches of your bumper front to back

That is why I NEVER took my s13 to a shop to do my work. Not even to tune my shit, I just learned how to do everything, because at the end of the day, they dont give a fuck about your car like you do.

Actually, depending which neighborhood you're at nyc, you wouldnt want to get things done on the street. There are assholes that fly down the block which is not safe to be on. Spaces are tight like hell. Public lots..not so much around where I live. Every lot is private property.

What most people do here in BK is go to their local Autozone and work in the Autozone lot.

I'm sorry guys, but you guys missed my point. So what I bring my car to the shop to do a simple oil change. So what I actually pay to have them to do oil change. Yes I can do it myself.

The point is that they're not taking any responsibilty of their fault. They should've come up with a better excuse, not "some how it popped off" They know it's their fault. If I end up spitting out for the towing then fine, just my luck..they couldve at least be honest and cover the oil.

if you're not slammed for supar zilvia fitment status you don't even need to lift the car. i can change oil on my s13 with sportlines without raising it

i'd imagine even if the car was dropped retard style, you'd just need a couple 2x4 chunks to get it to oil change height. NO EXCUSES NEW YORKER

Come on, man.

The shop's name is "Initial D / Advan".

That didn't give it away?

It's hard to find a good shop these days.

Way too many Hard Parkers and Mickey Mouse Operations around these days.

Sorry, but that's the way it is.

If you figure out a solution to the problem, let us know.

That doesnt sound like a bad thing at all.

In all seriousness though, I used to work for FireStone... and they did some pretty sketchy shit. And thats a national chain. I can only imagine the mom and pop places.

Wow, Initial D / Advan <--- (Boot legg) suxxx to begin with.... Glad you noticed that they suck ballssss....
I've had an issue before with them with my Clutch pedal, they just bolted my clutch pedal to another bracket instead of welding for me when asked to.. Then after that they got the nerve to charge me 3 billss... Not really holding any grudge cause it was my fault to bring my baby there for useless mechanics to work on... They over charge and the work that they do is worst then the garages at Shea stadium... May I offer you a better shop called Camber Toe/ Lynbrook LI? i'll give you the address if you send me a PM, they are very reliable and very professional! Unlike the half ass jobs these other shops put up in BKLYN... I'm glad a friend refered me to them! I'm surprise a fake ass shop is still opened...

even if you don't have room or space, you can always work on it at a friend's house. that's only if they dont give a f___.

12-15-2008, 02:05 PM
You dont need room or space to change oil. You park your car like normal, jack it up (scissor jack if you must), drain into a pan that you can wipe off and put in your trunk to recycle or whatever.

You only need 1 wrench for god's sake.

hmmm.. wow! sorry to hear about your situation..

anyways.. didn't want to start another thread about oil changes, so i hope you don't mind i throw this out there! signal auto does oil changes for $20 with the use of what i believe to be eneos or baker oil and oem filters! pretty good deal if you're feeling lazy and you save money.

OP - move to california! or rent garage space or storage space!

you need to buy one of these...http://www.toolsource.com/prod_medium/91487a.jpg

stick the right size tube in the dip stick hole and pump out all your oil. gets more oil out than draining from the drain plug and you dont have to buy drain plug gaskets anymore.

it's just about $20 everywhere, but the ENEOS or Baker Precision oil? 4 quarts of oil from those companies alone costs close to $20 and you have to do your own labor! :ghey:

Umm...wait, how the fuck does oil pressure build up in an engine with a "crinked line" Do you have an oil cooler that has a line? Only oil line on a stock SR is the turbo line, there is no other line that could "crink"

$20 bucks for an oil change is cheap...

it costs me $50 just for the oil in the evo +$10 for an oem filter.

the local shop charges $70 and they top off my fluids too. *shrug*

OEM filter + 4 qts Valvoline Durablend = ~$17, done.
