ok my car wont shift into anything when left in park.
i press the button but it wont go in for the shifter thing.(the black one that kinda mounted on the side.)
in order for me to drive it i have to press that red thing.
i remember hearing a click sound when ever i would press the brake, and im guessing that meant it was ok to put it into gear.
help please?
oh yea also, my brake lights don't work.
thanks,
john.
(sorry i didnt proof read, im just extremely tired (got of work a bit ago)

wow...i kinda expect more from a VRT member...... kinda. Please proof read threads before you post them.
As for your problem, add a better description of what's going on, and maybe someone can help you out.

what red thing?
any ways. your brake lights don't work and you can't get the car out of park?
It could be the switch on the brake pedal. It might be stuck shut. follow the brake pedal up till you get to a switch. Its like a button with four wires going to it. when you press the brake pedal down the button comes out . if the button is stuck shut in that can be why.

its like a little red, i dont know how to describe it, but you push it down and it allows the shifter to move, maybe a manual override thing.
oh and thank you soo much, ill check it in the morning,
its raining like the dickens down here.

yeah its prob the brake sensor switch, and as for the "little red thing" are you talking about the button you push down toward the transmission to allow the automatic shifter to move freely?

It is definitely either the brake switch or the fuse for the brake circuit. The shiftlock is powered by that fuse as well.

You have a short in the brake circuit. Find it and repair as needed.
