yea so im a little stumped. had to replace my head gasket so i decided to go ahead and replace my timing components. After replacing everthing and getting the motor back in the car I go to start it and i get....nothing but that evil *engine cranking but wont start* noise.....It tried to start but it kind of just stuttered and died and just did nothing but cranking again.

- Timing is correct, links are aligned. Link to the crank and idle sprocket are correct, as so are the links for the idle sprocket to cam sprockets (TDC with Dizzy). Even followed the "How to Build a ka24de build" on the KA-T.org forums.
- Getting fuel because pump is priming and plugs get flooded
- Wire harness and grounds are good/connected
- Not really sure how to test spark

It ran fine before i pulled the motor and did the work. Im missing out on work hours. ANY help/input/suggestions are appreciated

to test spark, take a wire off the plug and have someone crank it while you put the wire end on the valve cover. and try pulling the dizzy out and moving it back one tooth, i had do that to mine even after following the fsm and the ka-t.org build

i took the wire out and stuck an extra spark plug in the boot and cranked it over and seen spark. i tried moving the dizzy around and moving one tooth up/back, it sounded as if it was gonna start but all i heard was a stutter and *blu-op, blu-op* out the exhaust .

ok your getting closer, make sure you havent covered the spark plugs with gas, and reset the timing and try again

ok, one thing that does bother me is when i set it ot TDC and i line the dizzy, with the dot, i can only achieve it if the dizzy is turned fully left/right. I thought the bolt that holds the dizzy in should be somewhere in the middle?

it should be in the middle, are you taking the cap off and pointing the rotor towards the first cylinder on the cap? then it should go right in there and be in the middle.

we'll..

1. spark.
2. fuel.
3. air.

1. spark: As punxa mentioned. Check for spark by taking out the plug and grounding it somewhere while cranking the car to check if you have spark. Be sure to check your spark plug gap and making sure it's not getting any blowby.

2. air. Most likely not the problem...

3. fuel.
You say the fuel pump is priming...but that indicated that it turns on..doesn't necessarily mean that your getting fuel from that point.

take the hose off the manifold that inserts fuel to the rail.
turn the key on to make sure your getting fuel delivered.
could possibly be a clogged fuel filter or what not.

I'm somewhat convinced it has to do with you timing (only if the car ran fine before that)
make sure your mating marks are double checked.

alright so i can get the car started and to idle. but soon as i give it to much gas or load on it it wants to stumble and die. if go half throttle while in neutral it revs up but choppy. so im thinking my msd coil is going bad or plug wires. when i have the timing light hooked up and i give it gas it stops blinking cylinders 1-4 and the coil wire

*My coil has a crack near the base of the coil and when i WOT the coil is sparking threw the crack and touching my ground wire...so ill be getting a another msd coil (blaster ss this time) and try my luck
