So it looks like I dont have one....Im checking the FSM and it doesnt tell much about it, does anybody know what an "automatic transmission damper assembly" actually does?

It looks like just a block of rubber bolted to the bottom of the transmission, thats it.

Yes I have an auto, and it vibrates like crazy when im above 3krpms (sometimes), but its not speed dependant, so its not the driveshaft.

Yes, all autos have a large chunk of rubber bolted to the bottom of the case just past the mount.

anybody know what its used for? I cant see how it can dampen anything.

Rubber absorbs vibrations through the trans case
