I'm going to be flying from New Zealand to Los Angeles Independence day next year.
Will be in LA for 11 days.
Want to know from people in the know, what and where I should go to get the full LA experience.
Any suggestions on places to stay would be great too.

Daytime Places:
Six Flags Magic Mountain
Disneyland
Universal Studios
Venice Beach
Santa Monica Pier
Newport Beach (in the early morning, so you can catch the surfing)
Not much of a clubber, so I can't give you any advice on the night life. The only recommendation I can make is go to the Griffith Observatory. The skyline is spectacular, and you can see a lot of cool stuffs there.

Go to Hollywood during the daytime and do one of those stars hollywood tour bus rides.
Actually pretty cool.
Oh and Disneyland is a must.
Remember to save your ticket and do the fasttrak lines thing.

Disneyland, unviersal studio are both already planned.
As is hiring a car and heading over to Vegas for a night. Good places to hire a car from?
Other plans are to stop off at the LA ink tattoo shop, as I've been watching the series over here.

I always rent from Enterprise, good service.

It's called High Voltage Tattoo on Brea Ave in West Hollywood.

I suggest going to Newport or Huntington Beach for the 4th of July, there's going to be a lot of fireworks there.

Thanks for the suggestions,
All have been noted.
If you think of any others let me know.
Also if any good car events come up round then I'd be kean to have a look at the car scene in LA.
If anyone feels like renting me their silvia while I'm over there, I promise to treat it with the same love and repect that everyone treats any of the rental cars they have hired :D

you should rent a convertable. It really makes sight seeing a much better experience. And then take a drive on Mullholland Dr. which is a road on the top of the hill that seperates LA and the Valley. It's such a great drive to see an arial view of some great homes etc. Also, downtown LA is really up and coming. By the time you get here in the summer there will even be more places opening up! the LA Live complex just opened for Christmas and is totally worth checking out. I would recommend hitting up Club Nokia specifically. The food is by Wolfgang Puck and it's a great place to see live entertainment! Hope that helps!!

DTC superstar I'll pass on your invite to the blue oyster :down:
But the rest of the advise has been good.
Want to confirm that you cant do LA without a car? Basically heard that everything is miles apart and the bus system will be slow and difficult to get where I want to go.
