View Full Version : SR fu*king with me after Apexi NEO removed

OK, this is what happened. I bought the AEM FIC to replace my NEO this week. Then I removed the NEO off of my car and sold it to somebody else Thursday. The car was running fine for the night and Friday morning when I went to work. I was going to mail some stuff so I jumped in my car and took off. But before I got on the street, the car stalled. I thought it was just me, but it was not. I cannot get the car to idle...

I then remove the maf plug and everything seemed fine for a while. So I called up a guy selling a sr maf (I had a kae maf). We met, got the maf, but it did not start. It sounded like it was trying to but it just could not. Finally, after like 10 attempts, it started, but it would not idle. I limped the car back home and then today, I started working on it again. I double checked the wires where I spliced to install the NEO and everything seemed fine. Checked the maf wiring again and it is right. I let the car running (somehow the car would idle) and I remove the maf and the tps plug and the car is running perfectly fine again....

The car can drive, but it drives like sh*t. I am out of ideas. I pulled the negative off the battery like an hour ago and now I will see if anything changed.

Can somebody give me any advise?
Thanks in advance
Jesse

do you have a/f readings?

sounds like you are def having a electric problem

i know you dont have a distributor, or else id say check your rotor on underneith the cap
i had a similar problem with my KA
i had a safc2 on it. my car drove fine.
unplugged it
and my car was SHITTY..was running super duper lean.
and it wouldnt hold an idle for shit

i checked my plugs and everthing seemed fine.
id check to make sure you are getting the right ohms and whatnot at your coil packs.
it really sounds like an ignition problem.

hope that helps..

at least lowers the number of possible problems

Did you connect your maf wire back together. When you wire the neo, it disconnects the maf to a input and output. So your not getting a maf signal. Maybe

Moses, it is not the maf wire because with/without it, it does not make you car not idle. Only you can/cannot pass 3k rpm. But I know for sure because I have to use another wire to connect them back together.

Thanks for the help though

Pull codes from ECU then Check Coil Packs & Injectors by unplugging one at a time and listening for changes

I pulled each coil packs and injectors one at a time, the engine idle differently. But response for each unplug is the same.
I pulled the code 55. Fuck...

Ok, I changed a fuse (the big blue with the number 100 on it). I broke the clear cover one it like 3 months ago and did not know how to change it. Now I did change the car is drive-able again. It felt 100 times better. At least there is not any issues driving it.

But the idle is still a little messy.

Another update. I pull the sr maf and put the kae maf back in and the car is running like it was again!!! Maybe sometime later I would borrow another sr maf to see. The idle is still a little jumpy but at least the engine is not shutting down.

Thanks
Jesse

Is the FIC installed inside the car away from the elements ?

They have a bad problem if they are installed in the engine bay near excessive heat or
where water can get to them and cause damage.

Nah, the FIC is not in yet. I have to send it back for reprogramming.
The car has the following installed

FMIC
HKS BOV
3in turbo back exhaust
HKS boost gauge
Blitz Turbo Timer

The following will go in sometime later
AEM UEGO wideband
AEM FIC
