Is this oil pan dent bad enough to warrent replacement?

Just pull it off and pound it out.

I just use a 2x4 wood block and hammer.

Then I re-paint the oil pan again ( so I can see the scrapes in the future).

Then silicone gasket shit, the black shit.

Done and done.

Oh and wait for that shit to dry. I usually wait like a day just in case.

Is there a risk in the oil pan cracking as a result of hammering it out?

I had considered the option, but if I end up cracking it I'd need to get a new one anyhow.

Shit you should see the size of the dent in my oil pan for my rb. Its like 10 times worse! The way the rb ones are designed, you cant just hammer it out :( and im too broke for a $120 replacement so I just overfill my oil a little and i've been daily driving and taking it to events like that for almost a year.

If you can hammer it out or replace it definitely do it! It will save you a headache down the road

You're more than likely fine. I've seen so many banged up ones with zero issue last forever. Just beacuse 3 or 4 people had a dented pan and then assumed it's why their motor blew, does not make it the case.

If your car had rod knock, or similar, it would be much more apparent than 'ticking'

Right if it shows up. Check out SR20froums on that person :bite: sad I dont like to see crap like that. make sure you were not given a FWD SR20 oil pan.

The oil pan being dented per se is not a big deal. You should check the oil pickup and other components for damage depending on how hard you bottomed out the front suspension.

Just take a wood block and hammer the wood block to the oil pan.

Check to see if there's a kiss mark on the big rectangular area.

You could dremal the oil pick up also so that the sides have slits to pick up oil in case your oil pan hits the oil pick up.

I don't know.
