Just seeing if anyone has gone with a new speed limiter bypass unit that bypasses your govner.....Its a JDM piece(atleast the one I keep seeing).

Well, here's my question: even if you remove the governor, there still is a limiter in the fifth gear, isn't there (just like there is in the fourth and third, so on and so forth...)? Am I right?

dont quote me on this but ive read that if its a manual you can crawl under your car and unplug the 5th gear sensor - thus removing the limiter by the ecu not knowing the rpm
someone correct me if im wrong i have an idiot factor

So, I also may be correct then; there is a limiter in the tranny as well. So by just getting an ECU or cutting the wire, you may not be able to solve anything.

if you have a SOHC, don't cut the wire at the ECU like it says on 240sx.org    even though the directions were for a DOHC i thought what the ####...  yeah well don't do it unless you're wanting to lower you're top speed to 90, and only rev to 4500 in 3rd gear. just a warning for people with 89-90

IIRC, the tranny sensor is just the sensor for the ecu...they're not two separate entities.  Supposedly, you can take the sensor out of the tranny, so the ecu won't get a limiter signal...or replace the ecu so it won't care if it gets a limiter signal.  Or something like that....make sense?

The only reason I asked is I was interested in getting one. My friend has a sr20det and he doesnt have a top speed and he's using his domestic tranny not an imported one. Actually the crank something has the limiter that effects your tach not the tranny sensor......I know that much.
