Click through to the article. Looks like Foust/Corolla/Stromer are out of a driving job until the BBC finds them a new channel.

Speaking of Top Gear, I don't follow the show, but this episode is great.

of course knight rider was gonna fail! I agree tho, top gear should stay as an english show only. I also agree Foust is getting on my nerves, to much of anything gets old like that.

no biggie, im pretty sure it was gonna be an epic failure anyway.
nothing beats the original top gear...

It would suck anyways, since NBC could never be as unbiased as a BBC produced show. GM is one of their biggest advertisers.
May and Hammond hinted that there might be a 4th presenter on Top Gear. I hope it's Jay Leno (although he's up to his ass in GM sponsorship too.)

DITTO.
It isn't the same without Jeremy Clarkson completely insulting America and it's citizens in the most humorous of ways.
Also, I think Tanner Foust is super lame. He should just stick to driving ugly 350Zs and hosting stupid shows on SPEED Channel.

Not surprised. At least NBC learned their lesson about taking a turd, making it into a commercial, slapping the fans in the face, then polishing it up, and making the American public watch it.

I thought the BBC didn't take any private funding? I know Clarkson is biased against America, etc, but they sure don't have a major advertiser with a gun down their throat.

As oppossed to American Shows, which are obviously directed by the automakers involved.
At least the Top Gear guys have honest opinions.

Clarkson is awesome because this is his review of a Sebring.

........
And of course, being an American rental car, it came with a warped disc brake and steering that was so out of whack it kept making a beeline for Wyoming. But the worst thing was the overwhelming sense from everything you touched that it had been built by someone who was being deliberately stupid or who was four years old. Life inside that bag of crap plastic gave me some idea of what it might be like to be a boiled sweet.
We see this with so many American cars. Dynamically, some of them are pretty good these days. One or two are even a match for what the Chinese are doing. And by and large they are still extremely cheap. But there’s a very good reason for this. They are simply not built to last.
I spent most of my time in America this time in a new Corvette ZR1. It is a fabulous car. Mesmerisingly fast, good looking and amazing value. But after three days the damn thing was beginning to disintegrate. It made me growl with annoyance and despair.
But I think I know the problem. Because America is a new country, the people who live there have no sense of history. And if you have no concept of “the past”, it is extremely difficult to grapple with the idea of “the future”.
If you think a bar established in 1956 is “old” then you will not understand the idea of next week. So why bother building for it?
We see this short-termism in everything from the average American house, which falls over whenever the wind gets up, to the way chief executives are treated. In Japan, you are given 25 years before you are judged on whether you’ve turned the company around. In America, bosses are given two months. And if there’s been no financial about-turn, they are fired.
AIG and Lehman Brothers got caught out because they were being run by people who live only in the here and now. They couldn’t see that it would all come crashing down in the future because there’s no such thing.
I suppose eco-mentalists would use this argument as a stick to beat the pickup driving masses. But how can Hank and Billy-Bob think about the world ending in a thousand years when everything they know, everything they are, began a week last Tuesday?
And this brings me on to the war in Iraq. They went in there, knowing that pretty quickly they could depose Saddam Hussein. But nobody in power stopped for a moment to think about what might happen next. And there you have it. The insurgency problem in Baghdad and the wonky gearlever on the Chrysler Sebring. They are both caused by exactly the same thing.
And the only cure, frankly, is time. Give them 2,000 years and they might just start to understand what I’m on about. Until then, do not buy a Sebring. Do not rent one either. Close your eyes, hum and, hopefully, we can make it go away.
You have to admit, for them to cancel them because of Knight Rider's FAIL is pretty unfair. They could have at least done a pilot and see what the reaction was.

^i was thinking the same thing.. I didnt know Knight Rider was suppose to be a "car show" or even geared towards car enthusiast... i think its ignorance on their part. but whatever.
They want a car show? give us some dam F1 coverage.. you can have anybody sponsor that with commercials during that time frame lmao

NBC passes on Top Gear USA, show going to cable - Autoblog (http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/11/nbc-passes-on-top-gear-usa-show-going-to-cable/)
UPDATE: According to an entertainment industry source, NBC didn't "pass" on the program so much as it decided to sit on Top Gear as it hashed out the network's future. The BBC was able to get the program "back" so it could bring it to another channel. We'll see..
Might not be gone after all.

jay leno as a host would be good!
but i have a feeling he would be biased.
his own website is heavily sponsored by gm...

If NBC drops it and TG:USA goes to another network, dont expect Mr.Leno to be in on the motor shenanigans. NBC is going to throw alotta cash his way to keep him on the network after he steps down from The Tonight Show.

Well think about why this would be canceled or put on hold...with the big 3 in big doo-doo, NBC probably figured they were not gonna make any money with these shows since GM and Ford is buckling down on their advertising campaigns in order to save money.
Makes perfect sense to me...

Knight Rider was stupid kitchy car/action/sci-fi-ish/thingy/etc. at its best and I loved it for that. I for one will lament its loss (come on, a torchwood reference in your first season? If you dont know what I am talking about then you shouldnt like knight rider)
Knight rider wasnt a car show and therefore it really isnt fair that Top gear was cancelled b/c of it.
Top gear USA would have sucked. I dont care about the people, the point of top gear is not facts, the point is to see someone who really could give less than a shit about PC say some interesting and stupid shit about new cars. It is a show for that feel thing about cars, you dont have to agree, but it is something that can be relied on (Clarkson is an ass, Hammond is to child, and May is a curmudgeon and that is the whole point)
BBC is quite unbiased, Top Gear isnt and it isnt supposed to be.
Oh, god save the queen, Clarkson, Hammond, and May!
