I have been on this forum awhile, and have never posted any pictures or posted any information about my car. Pictures and build threads have been so helpful during my conversion, that I would like to extend the knowleadge I have gained from my conversion to anyone interested. Upon request I will post detailed pictures of anything I can, and provide some information on the process based on what I have done. I purchased the car 4 years ago with the intention of installing an SR20DET, without knowledge of infinite number of possible swaps. I was only interested in swapping another Nissan powerplant, which brought me to the RB engine. After seeing the rediculous power potential and the great aftermarket support of the RB engines, it seemed to be what I was looking for. At the time the RB26DETT and RB30DET were out of my range and the power output of an RB20DET was lower than I was looking for. I purchased an RB25DET from JSEPC.com for $2800 shipped to Jersey. The motor was in great condition and was completely stock. I sourced all the necessary components, compared and contasted the differences and began purchasing. This is what I have done so far:

Do you have more pictures of your paint, because I just picked up a ruby pearl zenki and it has very faded paint. I feel that it is one of the better colors that the zenki's came in, but it's hard to find pictures of them resprayed. I'd appreciate it if you could throw some up.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. The paint is stock, except for the engine bay. I had my dad spray it when everything was out. It was not that hard, I removed all the clips and brackets that hold everything down (body harness,brake lines,fuse box)and tied strings to everything suspending them from the cieling. The rest of the paint is starting to fade in some areas, espicially the clear. I agree that this is one of the nicest colors they offered, and a fresh coat would look amazing. I have an RB26DETT being built, when it is complete, at that time I am considering painting the car a Grayish color, like the 2009 GTR, I love the matte black accents. That won't be until next year though.

Nice to see that you're doing it legit! I am uncertain whether or not I am going to stay with the stock color because my guy is only charging $300 more for a color change! Just picked up all new window seals from nissan this morning though, but I have no idea when I'm gonna put it in the booth. Keep us posted on your progress, it looks great so far. Oh yeah, bigger pictures would be nice too :bigok:

Thanks for the comments, I will post some more pictures in a few days. As for the hp, on normal boost(around 10-12psi) I would imagine somewhere in the low 300hp range to the wheels. Although I am really not too sure.

What did you pay for all the weather stripping/window seals, and is it a pain to install? The stripping on my windshield is getting old and the gaps are starting to open up. As for the paint, $300 extra for a color change is a bargain if it is being done right, although Ruby Pearl is nice, and you don't really see that many done up. When I put the kouki front end on, If will decide for sure, I will change to Gray/Graphite color.

I got them for a steal cause of a hook up I've got over at mossy Nissan! Not sure what the actual cost is though. Are you thinking of IS300 graphite Grey pearl? cause is so that would be very nice. If i was gonna do a color change I'm thinking of a black base coat with a gold pearl coat on top of that.

The IS300 Graphite color is a little to dark. I want a Grey that will contrast well with matte black accents (lip, hood scoop, center of spoiler). For now I am putting the cosmetics on the back burner, in order to concentrate my effort on the RB26.

Thank you for the positive feedback. I fired up the motor the other day and it ran great. The idle was a little rough in the beginning, but after a few minutes it stabilized. There are still some things left to do, a lot of small details, and bugs to work out, but it was awesome to hear it finally run. I will post a video soon.

how do you like pushers vs pullers for a fan setup?

Unless you use the stock radiator or notch the rad support, using a pullers is impossible. You have to be careful when notching the rad support because the fill spout will not clear the hood if you move it up to forward. I would suggest just using pushers, as it probably wont make a huge difference for a street application. If you get crafty you can make the pullers work, but I wanted to keep things simple.

I will be running the RB25 for awhile, until I gather enough money to finish the 26. By that time, I might decide to put the 26 in something else, like a z32 or FD. For now I am going to enjoy the RB25. I plan doing a cheap turbo upgrade and some fuel system upgrades. Should be a fun daily driver.

I roughly mounted the Origin front bumper today. It fit surprisingly well, and appears to require minimal modification. The crash bar had to be cut quite a bit, however. The gaps for the grill and headlights look good, which is a problem I have seen quite often. I will have to drill new holes for the headlights to mount, as the car was originally a zenki. I am roughly mounting all the body panels, and will then drill and mount them permanentally. I will post updates as I go, and gladly answer any questions.

Hey how did the Syko mount kit work out for you? I'm trying to decide between this and 1jz swap for my s13.

The Syko Performance kit is by far the best mounting solution available. The position and appearance looks OEM, and the quality is second to none. The design makes installation as simple as a factory setup, and addresses the problem of downpipe interferance with the steering shaft. The kit comes with the motor mounts, spacers for the trans mount, spacers for the sway bar, and a turbo elbow to allow the use of an SR20 downpipe. You will need to purchase the skyline crossmember seperately, which pop up from time to time on ebay for around $100. The driveshaft is available through Driveshaftshop.com, which is another excellent product. I can take detailed pictures of the setup, if anyone is interested. Speak to Gary at Syko Performance, I have never encountered better customer service than he provides.
