View Full Version : S-Chassis Nostalgia (NO BANDWAGGON JUMPERS!!)

This thread is for the true OG S-chassis people. Enjuku posted up a pic of his drag S13 and it really got me tripping down memory lane...
I would like the people that have aquired thier S-chassis BEFORE all the hype, before they had a honda and switched over, before Tokyo drift, before Formula D, D1, Red Bullcrap, even before Initial D was big in the states.
Now I don't really conscider myself a true OG, more like a Jr. OG. I wanted a 240 since I was 11 or 12, When the S14 came out it was my achievable "dream car".
Post pictures of when you first got your car, sunk wheels and all...Horrible body kits, gay wings, full of that 90's and for some of you fossils 80's styling flavor.
Please if you are brand new, PLEASE dont ruin the thread with a brand new pic. I wanna see scanned grainy photos!
TRUE, ORIGINAL S-CHASSIS LOVERS...
Have at it...

We did something similar to this in the Premium Members Section back in January. Cool Thread.
Here's my submission, though I may not be "OG" enough. It's only 2002.

I got into 240's in 2000... I was 13... Obviously I couldn't afford one then. When I finally could afford one, they became what they are now.

I can try to find pics, but in elementary and middle school (as early as 1995), my friend's brother had a red pignose s13 coupe that was slammed, had some mesh wheels, and exhaust. It was love at first sight for me.

Bought from the original owner as seen in pics. My only addition was the enjuku clear signals and the konig impact wheels at the time.
Has since been changed around...a LOT. RHD, S15 front, origin kit, etc etc... But heres reppin 2001 baby.

My first 240sx I paid $600 for cause the idle wasn't right!
Sweet deal. Paid $900 for these high offset fake-o's w/tires.(what the hell is offset?
I even got lowering springs from eibach. you can see the amazing results!haha
I also got the dual tip exhaust for free from friend.
I thought I was the shit with these rims.hehe.
But hey at least I loved her.
Got this in I think 2003. Kinda read here and there about 240's. Had an Integra before that that was stolen. And before that a '94 Altima.
Jeez, I remember I thought 240's were piles of crap when I had the Altima, like "those things are not that fast, why would anybdy buy one?"hahaha
Now I love the S-chassis.
It was also when Daijiro Yoshihara's "jdm s13 silvia" was featured in a magazine and blew my mind!
Then I moved to California, so on and so forth.
hope I qualify for this, it feels nostalgic.
Based on how clueless I was when I started, and noow the S-chassis has taught me how to work on car's. (like I had a choice! read"tough love")

My uncle was a dealer, and when he would come visit my family he would always drive a different car, mostly Merc, BMW etc. One weekend he drove a S13 coupe, and I sat in the drivers seat...and wanted it. This was lik '90.
A few years later in 95 I saw the S14 on the street. Brand new...and I changed my mind. From then I wanted my first car to be a S14.
I didnt get one as my first car but in 04 I was able to trade my pretty much built from inside out car for a stock 95 with chopped springs plus cash. My friends thought I was crazy, my brother threatened not to talk to me.
Technically the 2nd owner since the guy I got it from never registered. He only had it for a week.

im far from nostalgic but i think can claim im not a bandwagon jumper. my uncle had a s14 in 96 and a fixed up s13 with cut springs and my dad had a datsun 610 so i pretty much followed in their footsteps..
i got my 98 s14 in 02 with 40k miles im second owner 1st owner was a lessee. i didnt have a good camera then so i dont have stock pics of the car. :( i wish i did though.
before that i had a 89 s13, it over heated so i rebuilt the motor and sold it for $1200. i didnt bother taking pics of this car. it had a full xenon nissan lip kit and wing that i trashed and then i put a chuki front.
when i started fixing up the car i got most of my parts from magic garage in long beach, tech III in paramount, and when i could afford it jspec sam..

I wanted a 240 (coupe not a hatch) since around the same time I got into rx7's (like 2002-2003). I always had fc's so I never really had the chance to mess with an s13. It wasn't til last year that I actually owned an s13, and now I'm on #2 and #3. I have my dream coupe awaiting it's build so I'm very happy with that. I've watched initial d later on now, but I don't care for drifting nor the F&F movies, those had never swayed me into buying my s-chassis.
I'll direct link since the pics are kinda big.

I then got my favorite of all my 240's, my 91 coupe.

oh shit...imma jump in this bitch real quick lol
240sx #1 - 1990 Hatchback - bought in early 2002 (everyone made fun of me for buying a nissan because hondas were "cool" and my car was "slow"...until i dropped in the SR 6 months later with a boost controller and went 14.2 on an open diff, stock SR, and blown suspension...those honda guys shut up REAL quick...no one would race me after that lol)
http://a515.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/3/l_1c7fc080a380c0e190ef5db38ab1d4d2.jpg
then a year later i went sileighty (and dropped it on some D2s lol)...i was the ONLY one in vegas for a LOOOOONG time
http://a136.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/22/l_1a6f91c7aa976a8c9715f959017a6b87.jpg
240sx #2 - 1989 Hatchback - after getting rear ended by a cadillac in winter of 04, i bought this car as a shell...swapped everything over from the white hatch...god this car was a fuking NIGHTMARE...NOTHING ever worked right in it

240sx #3 - 1992 Hatchback - the black car was car SOOO much bad luck for me that i got tired of it...stripped everything out of it and sold the shell...i found a MINT PRESTINE and ANY other adjective you can think of for the word PERFECT condition white hatchback...it belonged to a single owner...she babied the car...even had brand new shocks in it when i got it...but all good things must come to an end....

240sx #4 - 1993 Coupe - i was pulling into work january 26th 2006 and i was tboned by a woman who couldnt wait another 10 seconds for traffic to pass her...car was completely totalled and i was left without a 240 for a few months...guy here in town had this coupe sale that was in decent shape (engine bay was and still is disgusting)...i went and picked it up for WAY more than it was worth...but it has been my best 240 so far and i love it to death
this is how it looked when i first got the car back in 06 when i started building it...

My first S14 was bought new off the lot in October 1995, right before the 96s came out. They didn't have digital cameras back then, I do have a pic of it that my GF blew up and framed for me taken at Christmas that year, lowered on Eibachs with 225/40s on the stock wheels. I still have it hanging on my wall.
The next one, shit there must be a million pictures of it online, from 1997 when it was on 18x7.5, +38 Konig Monsoons to the Villians, to the Advan Siennas, then on to the Volks I have on the new car. I was the first S14 to stick a Supra 3rd brakelight in, that was also 1997, some kid had a picture of it from behind taken in a detail shop and posted it on carmods.com or some dumb site. I don't even know where to look to find any though, I deleted everything when I sold the shell four years ago.

I wouldn't consider myself an OG, but I didn't buy my S13 to get into the drift scene. I worked with a guy that was selling it. He wanted too much to start with, but ended up dropping the price enough. This is the only pic I have of when I first got it, monster truck ride height and all. On the Passenger side there is a huge dent on the front and rear fenders.

What's with all the '03 and up crap? I really don't think that qualifies for this thread. I personally didn't get my first 240 untill '03-'04, but I had been into 240's (researching parts and such) since '99 or so. It was markslidesquad's old blue s-13 (featured in super street about forever ago) that sent me over the edge. My buddy used to work with him and he took me for a ride in the car.

Parents bought me this in 03 for getting straight A's (yeah I was spoiled I know). Car had a shitload of problems that I didn't know about. Interior had to be rewired ugh...
This is the pic of the day I got my license when I was 16, I don't have any of my older pics on this comp. Sitting next to my friends 356 project which is fully restored now. I had a hula girl hanging off the tow hook until someone stole it, that was the second time, before I had a Kyle doll from SP that came with the car.

Yup, the blue one! I got to ride in it in about '00-'01. Me and my buddy went over to his townhome in the thousand oaks area and he took us for a little "spin". I was oogling his panasports in the garage too! I LOVED that car. The front bumper that he had on it was the cleanest looking s-13 bumper that I have ever seen, I never did find out what it was though. We went down to carl's jr after that and bullshitted for a while. It was cool, Mark is a cool guy. I haven't seen him but maybe once since then though. The funniest shit though was that I was all ricer back then and said that I liked the sound of the BOV. Then he informed me that it wasn't supposed to sound like that and that a pipe had broken. I felt like a total douche. Luckily I have matured since then! :Owned:

This car looks exactly like a car from nor-cal I was going to purchase back in 04, Was about to lock the sale in and then I had some friends who lived up north go check the car out, driveshaft was fucked, turbo had mad shaft play and was ready to go, tires were bald as fuck, rear quarter panel was fucked. So I just dropped the idea of getting a 240.
When I did get around to it, drift tax was ridiculous, and i could only find automatics back then.

That was DRIFT SHOWOFF.
Back then they brought out Koguchi in the red 180, Komatsu in the sparkle blue 180 with 15 face, Bai in the orange S15, and Seigo Yamamoto in the green and black 100 chaser.
That was wild.
Koguchi doing burnouts through crowds of people.
I had a BUNCH of photos of that event, but my AT THE TIME GIRLFRIEND hated cars and deleted every single picture except for 2.
I brought home the rear bumper off the signal 180 and had it for a couple years I think. Then I threw it away.
That was a sick event.
WAIT A SEC.... are you talking about the Option Ikaten that happened at night there. Nomuken drove the Signal 180 and... I think Tarzan drive the orange 15.
That one?
Option Ikaten was before Drift Showoff.

Bought my first coupe on 8-20-2002. I found the original date because I posted it on here.
I'm sure I have pictures somewhere, just have to find one. I wanted one since 01 but didn't have my license. Was given a car when I got my license but eventually got rid of that and bought a 89 240sx with 108k miles and a nice blue paint job. The chassis was pretty rusted so I got another non-rusted coupe about two years ago.
So i have only had 2 chassis' but I've since rebuilt that original SOHC engine and turboed it and it is still being used every day.

Loved Silvia's since I arrived in Japan in 1993. First car was a U11 Bluebird. It's transmission went, and then I was coaxed into getting the dark blue Silvia by my wife. It's been game on ever since.

I haven't owned one yet, but I remember back in 2002 or so, I saw a white Kouki S14 at the dealer and had to stop in. Test drove it, liked it, but it was just too slow. This was before the easiness of engine swaps like today, so I figured it was always going to be that slow and left it at that. Then I got back in my nitrous-fed 2000 Mustang and drove home. :)

This is a more recent picture, as you can see not much has changed exterior wise, however since then the car is riding on KYB AGXs, Z32 brakes all around, KA has gone turbo, I got a HKS hi-power, Calum-sult ECU, some gauges, Nismo shift knob, and pretty soon my 18" Work S2Rs are coming in. Sorry, anyone posting after '02 is a tried and true bandwagoner.
This is a lie. I've been a fan of the Datsun Z cars ever since I can remember. I had my S13 back in '03, before drifting was 'cool' (or at least I had never heard of it), back when the Honda Civic was the mad shit, when fart cans and park bench wings ruled the highways.... And I bought an S13 at an auction for $800. I just happened to like the car's style, and found Zilvia. Fell in love with the platform, and have owned 240s ever since.
I may not be Zilvia OG, but I'm not a bandwagoner who bought my 240 because it was the cool thing to do. I just happened to stumble upon a car I could afford, gave it a shot, and I've stuck with them ever since.

I didn't have my own car until 2005, so I'm 100% not OG. However, I didn't jump on any sort of bandwagon, I didn't even know anything about cars until I bought my first S14. All of my friends were into Civics and shit from middle school but I never got into any of that - nor knew anything about the car "scene". I remember struggling to change a tire, haha! I won't post any pictures because they probably don't belong, I'm just glad I never had a "ricer" phase or a FWD phase or anything else like that.

Not my s-chassis, but still old. Circa 2001, me and my lil bros first cars. At the time S13's were out of my price range so I bought the red GT-S for $1000 with 98,000 miles on it from a girl I had a crush on who was 2 grades older than me lol She wanted "something fast and cute, like a Del Sol"
I used to love Dj Elektrique and Slidesquad and Benson and Nekopunch and stuff after I got my car. I remember when Slidesquad was in Superstreet and I was like WHOA! These guys made it! Before that I remember having Options magazines, and still having not even SEEN A DRIFT VIDEO and imagining how awesome it would look. That was back in Jr. High in like 98-99 era. 8th grade class trip to Uwajimaya and the Asian art museum and I used all $40 my mom gave me to buy stuff on Japanese drift mags hahaha I had never seen drifting or cars look like that before and was in shock, so I bought everything I could. Still pissed that my BOXES of drift magazines from 98-02 got ruined by moisture and mold.

richard's car will always be a pinnacle (IMO) of what an S13 should look like. if it wasnt for his car (overfenders) my car wouldnt have a role model.
jdmrice1 will always be the best, with over fenders, without overfenders, mustang wing.. doesnt matter. his car was always the best with that configuration.
kinda like benson's black car, i always thought it looked best black.

2003? 2004? Come on guys…you can do better than that….really? 2003?
I am OG. I got my first 240sx at 16/17 in 1992. I’ve seen it all.
Styles come, styles go. It’s never changing. One thing I can tell you does stay the same….it is and always will be a money pit.
I’ve developed a test of sort. If you don’t know these peoples last names. Trust me. You are not old school. These people (and countless others) pioneered the 240sx way of life. Most have moved on, but in strange ways a connection will always be there.

Ahh before I begin…jeffs cwest kit was inspiring….when everyone else was sporting stock. He had the real deals on his car.
Ok my contribution: Earliest pic I could find with a date. I have some 1992 pics but none with dates on them.

nah thats just you bro, i can type just fine. you need to get a host is what you need. man, guys manage to host photos of girls on the porn forums with only one hand -- you should be able to host pics of your s13, and with 2 hands no less!

there will be none of that.
okay, maybe some. but no, i didnt just replace EVERY fucking piece (and yes, i mean EVERY fucking piece) of the exterior to go to the track and fuck it up.
if its going to get fucked up, its going to be right here on mulholland drive. at least i'll take out a mansion or two when my car catches fire when i die racing that idiot who crashed his Ferrari Enzo on PCH.
yes, i have plans, big SPLENDIFEROUS plans. opa!
Goddamnit Mike! The r888's are a waste without a racetrack! They'll NEVER get hot enough in the canyons to grip right. I'm not telling you to go out and drift into a bunch of cones and shit, I am telling you to go to a REAL trackday and beat the piss out of your car and tires with me. It's FUN! You KNOW you wanna!
I'm glad I finally have backup for the "2003-2004 just doesn't cut it for this thread" thing. If you are like me and have been into 240's since the late 90's, but were too broke to buy one, then come in here and swap stories. Pics just don't qualify though unless they are circa 2002 at the latest or are to show your progression over the years. Hell I think most of the REAL old skool guys have moved on.

i cant believe how much shit ive got saved away in this hard drive throughout the years... crazy!
i was there the day he wrecked that car...went too far into the sweeper...hit the island...island pulled him straight into the lamp post...was not groovy (it was at the very first vegasdrift event...there was like 6-8 of us vegas locals...rest were cali drivers...i damn near shat myself when i saw ernies old yellow S13 coupe..oooooo that car was sessy ;))
then rich comes back a year later with a fully built purple sil80 (s15 strawberry face conversion)...ernie was driving it at drift show off (night before DD9 here in vegas)...ah back in the good ol days when there was like 8 of us in vegas who went out drifting and cops had no idea what drifting was (hehehehh back in the vegas_touge days hahhahahhahahaahha)

I mean Brian H.... you do have a point. Everyone has their own version of Nostalgia. Some of us (well...most of us) were still in grade school when the S chassis was an uncool thing to have.
For me, I remember dancing in my living room when i was 17...when I got my first S13 (just a shell). I was so excited just to own one. I now know...im a lifer. I could never leave this scene...I'll always have a nissan, and prob always an S chassis in my driveway/garage.
I look at it this way, I'm only in my early 20's...I've spent almost a quarter of my life building and loving these cars. Its what helped shape me as a person, who i associate myself with, and even my career. Remembering the day that changed how my life would be led, makes me feel someone nostalgic and appreciative of these cars.

I got the same thing but i wanted an S14. I finally got mine when i graduated (saved up and up and up). I'll have to scan some pics of it. Paint was perfect, i waxed her every day. Only mod at the time was an Injen intake and a Le Bra!!! I have no clue why i thought a Bra was cool for a car!?!?!?

That car is the reason I went with the Silvia front, with Aero Bumper, and bugged the goofy looking guy in the middle to find me an EastBear lip for it. I wish I had purchased my 240 sooner, and met all the cool kids. But there were a couple things stopping me. First off, in 2000 I was still heavy into my ricer days, building useless cars and revving my engine at everything that moved, until the car got totaled. Second, Im still in the middle of no where on the East Coast. :keke:

funny, i dont think people have a real understanding how influential certain people and certain shops were back in the day. people like sam, richard and wayne really created an epicenter of car culture (no, not like the scion brand bullshit) but an overall sense of community for folks to meetup, hang out, buy rare parts, etc. as anti-everything i am, i even managed to have several events at my old shop for folks on the socal240 list.

Its funny how everybodys talking about how close knit the 240 scene was late 90s and early 2ks. I remember having my own close knit group of 240 guys up in the Tri-state. NJ, NY and Philadelphia cats. We used to drive up Queens, have dinner every 3rd fridays of the month and go on a lil cruise. I miss those fucking days...you dont have to worry about people ganking your shit, pop your hood, having a fucking intake on your KA was the shit!!! Well okay but you get the idea...
Aftermarket Parts readily available for a 240sx back then was a pain in the fucking ass to find. No real turbo kit, everything was piece together. Rev-hard log type manifold was the only manifold available for the KA. Anybody still remember the great Greddy KA Manifold?!?! I lost track of how many times I had to reweld that piece of shit...

You know what my favorite part of the Thread is so far?
Mamos hasn't had to yell at anybody about using shitty parts, and seeing him reminisce about the old days is refreshing.
It would be nice if we could have a close knit community again, instead of all the scamming, fighting, and destroying of cars we have now. It's the nature of the beast as drifting gains popularity and everybody jumps in a 240, because it's "the perfect drift car" and no one cares about destroying them.
Can't wait to see your car done Mike. I used to drool over the pics on your site all the time, before I even knew "old_s13".

It's the nature of the beast as drifting gains popularity and everybody jumps in a 240, because it's "the perfect drift car" and no one cares about destroying them.
The problem is that the community has gotten too large to really be close knit. There are still close knit communities within the overall 240 community though. Look at the 818 guys (which I am one of). We all know eachother and help eachother, no scamming here. We also have probably the best regular meet and one of the most popular threads here on zilvia.

oh...give it another 6 months when the new S chassis is debuted...u think theyre popular now...wait until all the little yuppy rich kids have their parents go get them a brand new S chassis in early 2010...no more having to learn about SRs and CAs...car will come with a MR16hrt motor...no more having to replace 14 year old blown suspension to take them drifting...no more having to learn to wire your shit right in the engine bay
as much as i look forward to buying a brand new S chassis and being the SINGLE OWNER of the car...im just kinda dreading the idea of how many NEW people its going to attract and how problematic our cars are going to become (more so than they already are)...and with toyota/subaru entering the fray...its gonna be a whole new generation of drift kids
but i do miss the old "tight nit" days when the drift scene was tiny no matter where you went and the people who were involved generally coveted their cars and didnt dream of taking them out and beating them all to hell...but life goes on no?

how did i miss this damn thread
i used to freakin drool over that damn jdm rice all day
and kevs car was the reason i got r32 wheels for my s14 back then damn
i bought my first s13 around feb 2003...red sohc...smashed up front...got it for 50 bucks from my neighbor...tied it to the front of a tree and pulled the frame out...ghetto fab at its finest...i was also 15
then i bought what was probably the cleanest s14 a few months later from rich from revtech racing...
it took me about a week before i slid across my neighbors lawn smashing my cwest kit and destroying my simmons wheels :(

Maybe if you bought a 350z in 2003 your 350OG. (like me)
I had a 240 boner since the 90s. Way before 99.999% of americans knew what drifting was or why a 240 is cool, and wtf is a skyline? I had a stock s13 in highschool as my first car. When Gran Turismo ONE came out (like 1997?), I was happy to see all my favorite jdm rides.

I actually have pics of crabs S13 from that meet, prior to the final body work, this was when it was still in its development stage:

03 is OG for some people because they were like 15 in 03. If you want people to post who owned cars in 93 then this should be retitled "the 30+ year olds that owned S13s when they were created thread".
No, it's not. OG is simply that, old school. Anything in this decade is not old, period. You may feel you're old school because you've owned a 240 for more than five years, that doesn't qualify. 99% of the cars and posts in here don't belong, but people seem to have this retarded misconception that if it happened last week, it's old news. If you were 15 yrs old then, or even if you're 20yrs old now and own a 240, you are NOT old school. You kids don't know shit about what the scene was like ten years ago and longer. When I bought my 2nd S14 in 1996 I met a few guys (Chris May, the one standing under my hood on page 3) and others who were avid autocross and track guys who happened to own 240s. I saw Kouki tails, Eastbear headlights, and an SR before the internet was even solidified, crazy shit I have never even heard of, but the community back then was tight knit and seriously cool. I drove all over the East Coast to go to 240 meets for years and met some of the coolest people ever, most are still good friends today. I knew every single person in Atlanta who owned a modded 240 and most of them in other States and could count on anyone of them putting me up for the night if I was passing through. It really was a community back then. These guys on here, Mike, Kevin, Harp, Sam, and Alex Chang, Asad, Jeff Baysinger, Tony To, Derek Greaser, Louis Snodgrass, these guys were the originators of the nationwide 240SX scene before we had forums, internet chat rooms, Ebay, drifting, all the other shit that we have today.
It's sad that those days are gone, the scene itself turned to shit long before most of you guys even bought your cars, people grew up and moved on to other things and the high schoolers came in, rode the wagon, and ruined it for the people who help start the movement. Like Mike said, I wouldn't dare post a mod list or pics of my car online today, shit would be stolen in 30 minutes, distributed throughout the web, and some of you guys would talk about the new parts you scored the next day without even knowing or caring that it was stolen. The rest of the 240 owners today are all a bunch of hardass ethugs who really did jump the wagon because they jacked off to drifting videos just waiting until they turned 16 so they could beg their parents to buy them a beat ass shell with caved in quarters because it's cool.

^^^For real. If you were 15 in '03 you are NOT old school.....PERIOD. Hell I am not old school. I may have an old school story or two, but I have no idea what the "scene" was like back then. I didn't even get into the "scene" untill I joined here in '07. I just built and enjoyed my first 240 and was completely happy with that. It is pretty dope to see the REAL old school guys in here posting pics and stories, I wish I was in it back then.

No one ever said anyone was any better than any one else. Your reading sucks. I also never said I invented the 240 or anything like that. I also guess you meant to say copying is the greatest form of flattery, so tell me, who was I copying in 1995? I had never seen an issue of Option magazine or even knew there was such a market in Japan, I just bought parts because I wanted my car to be faster. And if you're going to say I "don't help shit", then you've never read any post I've ever made in tech.
I'm happy people like their cars, true. But do I get excited about meeting cool, new people just because we own the same car? No. I don't care about the scene anymore nor do I look forward to standing around a parking lot talking about cars with a bunch of dudes half my age, cool or not. There is no 'team', we're all just random people who own 240s. Some appreciate them more than others, that's it. If you want to break out the marshmallows and sing kumbaya, go for it. I won't be there. If you get offended by that, you're too wrapped up in trivial things.

don't know why it has to get all angry up in here.
we all love this one car that manages to bring people together, just in different spaces in time.
i remember back in 02-03 when i was in the 5th or 6th grade, i had a neighbor that owned a Zenki with some late 90's bodykit and rims. I would stare at the emblem "240sx" on the back every day as i walked to school, and fell in love. Ever since i wanted an s14, but the s13 seemed to work its way into my life.
Sorry im not "OG" nor am i claiming to be, seeing as it is very subjective, but i just wanted to share the same passion i have for these piles as everyone else does!

Forums have become the death of the car scene, e-thugs copy cats and trends have become the overall destruction of the car scene and everything i grew to love. I do not consider myself OG in any way shape or form, but thanks to bad parenting and a father who owned a used car lot i got into the car scene long before i could drive.
I picked up my first s-chasis when i was 13 with my bar-mitzvah money yes i said it, my bar-mitzvah money. It was a 1970 240z with 236k miles on it i bought it with every intention of restoring it by the time i was 16 and could legally drive.
the rust on it was rediculous and it took me until i was 16 just to replace the majority of the frame and floor panel when i finally got the job done i gifted my dad the car as a trade for my s13 since my dads favorite car has always been the 240z.
ive been around for a long time, ive seen alot of changes in the scene i love, its become more about when the majority wants and what is trendy on the forums, when we still had a rep system i got my fair share of hate for supporting the people who did their own things and not the trendy "jdm" photocopied cars everyone else wants.
i miss the way things used to be and i miss the people who made this scene a family.
there isnt enough of a community anymore, everyone feels as though they have something to prove yet as soon as they step out of line from the cookie cutter image of what an s-chasis should be they are shot down and destroyed.
for the kids in high school and to the true OG's all i say is this, if a true enthusiast exits, support him, if you dont like something they are doing to their car, change your imput from i hate it change this change that to something more simple like, not my taste but to each their own.
to the guys who paved the way before me and to those who will come after, lets make the scene what it was, a family and a community, full of different ages opinions and ideas.

i think alot of the older guys would be more appreciative towards the car builds that have tons of legit expensive parts on em, compared to what some see in our eyes as young guys with all the aftermarket cheap parts and not work their ass off to source em compared to few years ago.
Times have changed.. in 03 i bought a hks type s intercooler for like $800 piecing up my sr swap.. that was typical front mount pricing. Only legit parts back then. Now alot of people turn to ebay $200 fmic specials.
ALot of the guys I looked up to back then , well they either moved on, or they no longer daily drive their cars on the streets. More often now you will see younger kids with even more ragtag 240s around, and the explosion of low ballers.
I think this is jookybanana's car??

No kidding. The sportmax/SS autochrome mentality has RUINED the 240sx community.

i wouldn't say sportmax really ruined any thing...
i did some research after finding some pretty old drift videos..... and almost every car there was running some dinky 16-17 wheels that looked exactly like the 002. so i asked a few ppl did some searching... found out that the wheels where like the cheap wheels that everyone could get alot of for track events.....
true they are cheap, and so many ppl have them, they got played pretty quick. No diff than honda scene and rota slip streams.

then i bought what was probably the cleanest s14 a few months later from rich from revtech racing...
it took me about a week before i slid across my neighbors lawn smashing my cwest kit and destroying my simmons wheels :(
YOUR STILL AN ASSHOLE FOR DOING THAT!!! I saved the carbon hood from you thank god!!! I fucking loved that car, except for it was automatic...

The OG IFX guys will always be my first close knit family...Stans pretty much the only person I've said wussup to online in awhile. Most of the guys have either moved on or just grew up from it.
Talked to Richard a while back to see wussup with him, guess he's still rocking the S2K. Tried to get with him in Philippines during Xmas, but i fucking forgot to bring his phone number back with me.
Anyways, Life Plaza Meets back in 03, went to a couple when I was down in Socal that summer. Kenny dragged me over there and met up with Mike, Henry and a bunch of other guys. Chill out there till 11 ish then used to go up to GMR or Bullrun and hang out there till 3 in the morning.
Wait what happend to Henry anyways? Last shit I remember about him was when he wrecked trying to run from the cops. HAHA...who still got pictures of that?!?!

lol when was that? It doesn't sit that way anymore, sucks even worse now. I had Tein HR's at the time, non height independent adjustable suckers.... I switched them out for Apex'i N1 EXV's so it's lower now =P
i have pictures of this car saved on my computer at the office.
seriously, you guys have no clue how huge my collection is. its near 10 years of continuous "right-click-save"
i saved numerous photos of widebody cars, all because i knew i wanted to go that configuration... eventually. the thing is, doing widebody right is a very hard thing. there are so many variables that need to be taken into consideration, and no offense.. many people (including yourself) could benefit from. things like ride height, body panels, molding or not molding, etc.. all make a difference in the finished look of the car. and by finished, i mean really, really........ meticulously finished and assembled.
this is the thing almost ALL 240 owners skimp on, is assembling the car in a way that looks professional and factory, keeping the body panels lined up and the seams equally matched. this is pretty much an impossibility if you use shitty aftermarket parts or if you simply dont care and use zipties for attaching your bumper/fender/closing your pants.

i have some more pics I'll have to post up of that nissan convention, i have a few wallpaper photos i took with me and jon carsons super clean super stock s13.

as for people killing the scene, i dont think it really matters much. we've all managed to stay connected (through various people/forums/etc) throughout the years. i still talk to richard tang, glenn sato, omar, sam, wayne, harp, kevin/lisa, etc etc etc. Sure, you get busier as life passes us by but we're still around.
im sure lots of people thought i got rid of my 240 at some point because i dont post often, but i still have it... its just been on the back burner for several years now. do it right or dont do it at all.
all i can say is good luck to you guys who plan on restoring their cars, its a HUGE amount of work and takes big money. if i knew i'de spend upwards of 30k doing what i've been doing i doubt i would do it again. at least now i know my car will be clean another decade (maybe two) and be safe and secure in my garage.
i wouldnt suggest modifying your cars if they're not parked indoors. community has grown too shady for that.
speaking of which, anyone ever found my black demon cambers yet? i've been wondering when they are going to surface up again. they were stolen maybe 2 years ago... 16x8 -15 with black centers. oh well.. tear.

YOU need to chill. The thread title doesn't state "anybody who truly loves the cars come in and post pics". It is asking for TRUE OG 240 owners to come in and post pics and stories. All these 2002+ pics are NOT what was REQUESTED by the OP in this thread, therefore they DON'T belong. You are not OG and neither am I. It is not necessarily our faults, we were just too young and/or broke to be a part of it back then. I feel I have an OG attitude, but that doesn't make me OG or make my "old" pics actually belong in this thread. That is what Russ was trying to get across. Not that he or other truly OG 240 owners are better, but that the rest of us don't need to be posting our un-qualified pics and shit here. If you have an OGish story, then post it up. If you have a truly OG pic or two (even if they are just things that you found on the internet), then post them up. If you have questions, then ask them. Just don't clutter up the thread with a bunch of pics and shit that doesn't belong here.

Shit, SO many Old_S13 stories to tell... :keke:
First one...getting on the freeway at some ungodly hour, only to have Mike and Dunn take off hauling ass....I couldn't keep up in my civic. Think to myself "bastard fucking LEFT ME! He is soo gonna die"....while later, find his house...that wasn't fun for anyone. But, I still luv Mike and thank god he never took what I said seriously! haha
Next...Mexican restaurant, has a margarita...tell waitress it was his b-day. Mike is the best person EVAR to tell them it is his b-day at a place when it really isnt....He loves that you remembered his birthday no matter what! (Even better when at islands and the waitress apologizes for not noticing his birthday when she carded him! hahhaa).
Mike wanting to 'clearcorners.com' the rental Solara lights :keke: "come on Lisa, they wont notice it when I am done with them!" I still think he just wanted a free platform template. Were you in the car when we brake checked it, and tried to launch it?
Lastly, not sure if Mike was apart of this or not, but a classic oldie...CucinaCucina in Ontario....and the Green Penii on the table, and the waiter hitting on (was it Jeff? I can't remember!)

For all the east coast heads. One of the best spots to get motors.
Noyan USA thier original location. I think this was my second motor from them. 3 total.
Not anymore. They've pretty much stopped doing motors, and now they're exporting entire cars to Asia. lol I got my engine there less than a year ago, and supposedly it was one of the last 2 SRs they were gonna get. My buddy has a dealer account with them and has gotten probably at least 40 or 50 engines from them.

i grabbed lisa's friend's titty.
she was a bit chubby if i recall correctly, but she was very horny and talked a lot. so i wanted to piss her off and shut her up, so i busted a bionic commando and grappled her boobs. i cant remember if it was one hand or two, but if my memory is correct, it was a handful or mammary madness. I was like "come-on titty, come on titty..." haha sorry, some chappelle humor for you guys.

i dont know the full story behind henry's reason to run, i just know its fuckin badassed and im sure everyone at one point in their life dreams about being that guy running from the cops on the news, but with a badassed car.
well, i guess henry tried it and well, maybe his driving skills were sub-par.. or maybe the chp was better.. who knows.
all i know is that it made GREAT reading with my morning bowl of cereal 4-5 years ago when it happened.

you kids got it soo easy now.. cheap wheel selection, all the knowledge in the world is out there now etc... back in the day people ahd to be pioneers and most of the aftermarket parts had to only be through an importer.
Brian has a point, no one said baller back then.. brand name parts on a S chassis was the norm lol. Brand name parts on a 240 now, kids think you got money compared to ebay specials lol

i got my 240 back in 03.
i had NO IDEA whats that car associated with, i just liked it because it looked cool and it was manual.... my galant blew a tranny 3rd time in a row so i went to the dealer saw the 95 240sx and bought it for 5k + my trade in. 5 speed 60k miles.... seems so long ago.
i didn't know anything about drifting back then just drag, started doing little mods here and there myself. remember was so proud of myself putting a aem intake on, made the car sound awesome :) i was 20 back then.
fucked around in parking lots for a while when i actually met some other 240 people. really not alot here in town and thats where it all started i guess.
once i went to an actual event in a sohc hatch that we had at the shop i was hooked and that was back in 2006. so i guess im noob compare to some old school people out here. still fun to read

I got mine back in 1998..95 base with the steel rims and hub caps. I didn't start actually modding it until 1999 when I bought the Apexi N1 and their old Super Intake, the one that still needed oil, and the old hotshot header with the fitment issues but nicer pipe design. Unlike some on here I still have that exact car in my possession, its more modded now but its the same car I bought used from the Nissan dealer all those years ago.

10 years ago next month i bought my first 240 paid 4K for it with 96K on the Odometer red hatch SOHC auto. 6 years ago today i bought my first turbo motor a broken down CA18det, i still have the voided copy of the check i wrote for it haha. 6 years later i have only driven the car a total of maybe 1 year. on febuary 25th 2009 it will be the 4 year anniversary of opening up my own shop. these cars have played quite a roll in my life for the last decade.

My Nostalgia Moment...
Loved 240 since around middle school when I saw my first drift video online through my AOL dial-up 56k modem.
My true 240 love is when I got my First back in '02 when I was 17. Every1 called it the "Barney Mobile" because they swore it look purple.

I never did like that car. The front bumper bothered me a LOT and it was not low enough, even for back then (WOW I hardly ever say that). I think I still have that issue around somewhere. I LIVED on magazines for years as I couldn't afford a car of my own. By the time Jerry built this s-13 the yellow jspec.com s-13 was built and that car surpassed this one by far.

wow, ok I guess its time to post the only pics of my low mileage 91, that got totaled at the end of August 2002. Bought with 19k in 2000-2001 second 240 after my old Silver blue 89. It got creamed while parked across the street from my building. 36k on it at the time. Sporting S14SE wheels when a lot of us who done the 5 lug swap ran S14 SE wheels and 30 offsets were considered decent.
