My buddy is making an electric 280z. If they're the same lead acid batteries, about 3k each, and 11k for the electric engine.

while I agree what he is doing is cool and all and I respect him for that
I would take everything he says with a grain of salt.
I'll just point out some concerns:

The electric car is fast because its on a lightweight chassis
It's lightweight because it doesn't have safety features
Safety features that are necessary for a modern car
especially one loaded with batteries that may explode
Batteries that are produced in a factory
Factories that need oil
Oil.

Will it be as fast on a modern car?
How many batteries will a modern car need to move some 4000lbs?
How environmentally safe are li-on batteries if used in a wider scale?
I believe that is just misplacing the burden.

Like I said, I like his car
I just don't like how he preaches hes an 'environmentalist'

Also, The power he is using to charge those batteries probably comes from a coal burning power plant...

^LMAO!
thats what I was gonna say.

We need a engine that runs off of water.
Then we could have all our grey water from our houses collect in a tank in the garage, and we could fuel ourselfs. Send the grey water up into the atmosphere as clean water.
just thinkin :)

I wonder how well that car drifts with all the torque down low. But then can I just floor it when I want to do clutch kick in a gas powered car? What about Ebrakes?

Wow, it looks like the guy driving that car at the track isn't even wearing a seat belt. Maybe I'm just missing it lol.

That things is awesome.

Not perfect, as others have already pointed out. But still, even if it's not a viable fuel alternative, from engineering standpoint alone I give this guy props.

Maybe the government should give this guy a "bailout" instead of GM, Ford, and Chrysler?

Damn that was a sick ass car......

He should get a job building those kinda of cars for real automakers this way he can develop further technology so he doesn't have to run 60 batteries, with unlimited resources from an auto company i'm sure he could do it...
