Ok so here is the deal guys. I will have a little over $5000 to spare in January. I've been having a hard time to decide so I need to hear some voices. Here's the options. The first option is to rebuild my S13 completely, not so much on the motor but mainly on performance upgrades like Power FC, 740cc injectors, Prolite fly wheel, Stg 3 clutch kit, and paint job. I want my car too go fast and look clean inside out. I blew my SR last week :bash: so I haven't been able to get around. The problem with this option is that I won't have a running car until mid Feburary since the money doesn't roll in until January. I'm guessing from ordering parts to getting a paint job will approximately take a month. In the meanwhile, all I can do is take out the SR, rebuild it, and paint the engine bay until the money rolls in (all the work will be done by me). The problem is that school starts on the 12th on next month which is my B-DAY  so I won't have transportation for a month and I really dont feel like taking a bus to school. Now the second option is to get an 07 R6 with only 1,600 miles on the clock for $5,500. I can get the bike as soon as the money rolls in. I've already owned two bikes (02 F4i and 03 600RR) so I am quite a bit experienced. I know I'm a Honda guy when it comes to bikes but I am going to go for Yamaha this time :D. I already know the pros and cons of having a bike, my parents and I have had so many arguments over this so please try not to take that into consideration. I did not post this to get lectured, I posted this to hear some opinions. Let me know what you think.
Thanks
Here's the pics of the actual R6

One's faster, better looking, sounds better, and will pull a ton of ass and the other one has 4 wheels.
Make a choice and run with it.

What's the hook up? Buddy needs money?

Naw, actually there is no hook up. It's from a private seller who got forced to sell the bike from his wife. He just wants to get rid of it. Usually 06 n up R6's cost around $6,500+ with a descent amount of millage on it. To be honest, I am leaning towards the bike... it's all stock and he's going to provide with all the gears too as well. I was looking into gsxr 750 but too many people have gsxrs so I decided to go with the R6.

Did you find this on craigslist? Sounds exactly like those craigslist scams that post really low prices and asks you to wire money to an "ebay agent".

OP, you sound like me next year. That is the exact bike i want, colour and everything.
DO IT! but be careful, cause you cant fuck around on a bike the same way you can with a car. you have to be at your full attention or some woman in an suv will kill you.

As long as you don't ride like a total assclown and wear helmet/jacket/pants etc. your fine. That "low life expectancy" is for people who ride like they wanna die. You could say the same thing about driving a car

So, when a 3500 Truck comes and smashes into the bike rider in an intersection, he'll be fine as long as he isn't riding like an assclown?

That same truck slams into your S13 at an intersection, results are probably very similar. My point was most of the people who die in bike accidents are the ones who ride like retards and wear little to no protective equipment (I know I have a friend that died like the other guy posted). I'm NOT saying all deaths are caused this way, that would be like saying all deaths in a car are cause by not wearing a seatbelt, but you can take steps to help yourself

I've gone down twice due to other people's stupidity.
#1 Some lady t-bones be because she wasn't paying attention while on her cellphone, while making a left turn.
#2 Got rear ended from behind on the freeway by someone going 100+ because they were racing.
Both near death experiences thats lefts me with a titanium rod in my left arm and rash scars on my arms and back and neck pain that will last a lifetime.
Doesn't matter if you ride defensively, there are somethings you cannot control.

Yeah, but a car is 10x the size of a bike making it much more visible, has some amount of side impact protection, has air bags and many active/passive retraint features standard, and your head will likely not splatter everywhere if you are hit with your seat belt on. I think you have much better chances surviving in a car.
A very low speed collision on a bike will easily kill you, which is not the same for a car.
What I'm saying is driving a car is still much safer than a bike given equal driving/riding skills and awareness.
It's the nature of being on a small pocket rocket and popping in and out of peoples blind spots that will get you killed.
Stats from a USC study:
Motorcycle Safety Statistics: Crash, Fatal Bike Accidents (http://www.motorcycle-accidents.com/pages/stats.html)
In the single vehicle accidents, motorcycle rider error was present as the accident precipitating factor in about two-thirds of the cases, with the typical error being a slide out and fall due to over braking or running wide on a curve due to excess speed or under-cornering.
Not due to riding stupid fast, just inexperienced or exceed one's limit.
In the multiple vehicle accidents, the driver of the other vehicle violated the motorcycle right-of-way and caused the accident in two-thirds of those accidents.
More chances to die on a bike vs. a car, just simply due to right of way.
The failure of motorists to detect and recognize motorcycles in traffic is the predominating cause of motorcycle accidents. The driver of the other vehicle involved in collision with the motorcycle did not see the motorcycle before the collision, or did not see the motorcycle until too late to avoid the collision.
Some support for what I said up top.
T he motorcycle riders involved in accidents are essentially without training; 92% were self-taught or learned from family or friends. Motorcycle rider training experience reduces accident involvement and is related to reduced injuries in the event of accidents.
Take your local RiderCourse training!
Carry on with the original topic! :l101:

Haha ThatGuy - nice video. As a former command MSF instructor for the USS T Roosevelt in VA, I've seen and regurgitated my share of that type of information. It's true that the military attracts the same type of people that are attracted to sportbikes (and motorcycles in general), so you deal with that more than most organizations.
LOL: (from the video) Fact - 46% of motorcycle accidents are because the motorcyclist was drinking. HOLY SHIT, stop drinking and riding.
(from my life) Fact - almost every time I drank and ride, I die copious amounts of wheelies. Never crashed while "drinking". Crashed 10+ times while not drinking lol.
To the OP - the bike will hold it's value better, and you've ridden before - pick up the R6. Build your car as the cash permits.

Was it their first time owning a bike? I believe that owning a bike for the first time will higher the risks of getting into an accident because riding a bike on the road and driving a car on the road are two different things. I just called up some of my riding buddies from the previous college that I attended (ERAU Daytona Beach FL) they're doing just fine. None of them have laid their bikes down within the past 8 months. They're all around my age and quite a bit experienced. Also they're all smart, they never drink and ride, never stunt, never ride crazy, and always have protective gears. I really do think that if you do the above, you will definitely lower the risks of getting into a fatal accident. But there will always be stupid drivers out there and sometimes you just cannot avoid them....

Yea. They were all first time riders. All wearing the proper gear, all smart enough not to drink before riding. Just bad luck mostly.
I heard a while back that if you can go your first 6 months without laying the bike down you are a decent rider. Don't know if it is true though. I hit triple digits on a motorcycle one late night on an open street. It was enough to quench my thirst. Haven't ridden since.

... I heard a while back that if you can go your first 6 months without laying the bike down you are a decent rider. ...
Lol, so for most people, that's what? 500 miles? 1000?
I'm not going to go over my entire history (check the "premie motorcycle thread", I own that bish), but I've put over 100,000 miles on my 5 sportbikes in the past 8 years. Over one hundred thousand. And I've crashed a few times, at least 10 if you include parking lot/garage/stop light slips over the years - I'm still the fastest person I personally know on the track (or in the canyons), does that make me a good rider? A bad rider? I don't know...
... point is, rider's will ride. You got your thirst quenched, and haven't been back yet - good for you (I mean that) ~ I could never hang it up. The OP obviously wants another bike, and like I said above, it's a good investment (that bike will hold its value much better than a built S13 as long as he doesn't wad it up), he should go for it if he wants to put it all on two wheels again.

Thanks for the opinions guys. I really do appreciate it. I just had a hard time deciding since I put a good amount of cash into my 240. But I know one thing for sure, I will damn sure miss that BOV sound!! "Psssshhhhhhh" Yea, the greddy type RS!! All my female friends loved it :D Hey but I can still boost the R6 right:rawk:. Yea right, I will definitely get owned:Ownedd:, lol. Bikes are already fast enough so I'm not really worried about the speed plus bikes will get you more asses than having a 240. That is a fact. I got 3 girls within 3 months when I got the second bike, yea the 03 600RR in mad red. But when I sold the bike and got the 240.......I got no ass whatsoever :jerkit:. I'm not saying that I can't get girls in general (trust me, I pulled a married women..she was my girlfriend's best friend at the time :hide:) but bikes do attract shit load of attention to you both Guys & Girls. A lot of the sports car driver guys will try to F*** with you on the road when they are by themselves but when they're with females, THEY DON'T DO SHIT!!! All they can do is look at the cool ass bike and sigh while the girl is staring the shit out of you!! That's the best part. The bike WILL do the job if you're looking to get some attention, you will pull numbers left and right. But don't be stupid and try to show off popping wheelies or anything like that because you will look like a dumb ass IF you do F*** up so keep it moderate. I will probably get the R6 next month, I am putting down the deposit on monday:rawk: I can't wait to be back on the road!

There is no protective gear that will stop your body from being split in half. Obviously.
When you drive a car, do you wear protective gear that will stop you from getting crushed if you flip the car/another car falls on you/a meteor hits you? No, you avoid the dangers you can, and hope that the minuscule probability of something extraordinary happening doesn't catch up to you.
And enjoy life in the process.

I almost bought a bike. Almost.
I was down in Vegas and they had an '07 Busa that they couldn't sell. They were selling it at an incredible price, and I probably could have haggled it down a bit still.
But I know that I like speed way too much, and if I would have bought that bike I'd probably be either dead or in a coma right now.
I've known riders that have ridden bikes for damn near close to 20 years that still put down their bikes.
One guy I used to work for was really active in one of the MC's around Colorado Springs. He laid down his bike in the parking lot doing less than 10 mph. He ended up with a metal plate in his elbow and custom airbrushed tank that was scratched to hell.
Point is, there risks in life. You can mitigate most risk to some extend, but it's impossible to eliminate all risks. Be honest with yourself.
It's real easy to lose respect for bikes (some never gain it). You have two less wheels and no protective cage on a bike.
Just something to keep in mind.
Whatever your choice, have fun and stay safe.

If it was in the $9K's brand new, like I saw some of them, you should have bought it. Worst case you decide 6 months later to sell it, you only eat $1k.
