What's the most ridiculous thing you've done to save money? (obviously for car parts and junk of the like)

What does everyone do to save money on the daily?

What type of jobs do you bastards with unbelievable cars have?

Finally, how do you drifters do it?

Hopefully these topics haven't been to widely discussed. I've been lurking the forums for quite some time and joined not to long ago in hopes of getting a lot of questions answered. This one however, is something I thought might be original haha.

I happen to live in an area where there is no work for kids in high school. I'm out the 18 tho for good. Then I get a minute on probation and it's off to basic training boii.

Hmm, any of you military folk here? Military mechanics? Just regular mechanics? Getting sick of doing it for so many years?

I wonder...

When I wanted to turbo my KA i worked 2 jobs in summer. I started work on my family peach orchards at 5am and worked until 3p.m. with a 1 hour lunch break then i would go home and shower then work at a golf course from 4-9 or 10 p.m. no breaks. I was the guy who drove around in the golf cart that people try to hit on the driving range. I did this 5 days a week and on my days off I would do additional work in the orchards working 10 hours on my days off. I didnt get overtime tho in the orchards since its family owned.

All of this when minimum wage was under 7 bucks a hour.

knowledge means nothing without putting that knowledge to use. It is the difference between conscious competency and unconscious competency. If you have a background in martial arts, you'll understand what I'm talking about. Depending on where you plan on "bouncing" at, you may need more of the real world experience than the hypothetical experience.

I don't doubt this at all, but I believe since I was younger that I understood the world and it's revolutions more than those around me. It was harsh on me when I was little and didn't understand the simple pleasures of enjoying recreation, which turned out terrible for my teenage years (pubescent) for I was constantly engaging myself in doing everything I possibly could to avoid the institution. I did not care for the idea that there is something I was "supposed" to do, so I became rather obsessed with defying that.

Now it has caught up with me and I am knowledgeable without the burden of proof for me to further any succession into colleges or universities and truly.

go to tech school... work hard, take every opportunity to go above and beyond. try to work your way into specializing into some of the higher end sports cars or luxury car lines. They pay the mechanics well.

National Guard deploys more than you think, and lately, the fact that you are military is not a guarantee for work. Even after your service. I would look into the other branches...especially the AF. Just make sure to talk to all of them, and don't fall for their BS.

I believe that education will open many opportunities to succeed in life. Since I like to go fast all damn time, I decided to become a naval aviator. If you want to feel what it's like to go from 0-180mph under 200ft pulling Gs then you should pursue becoming pilot in the Navy. Lieutenants make about 50K a year (that's just starting off), and as you move up in ranks that's when you start to make some serious money. Remember, you need to have at least a 4-year degree to become an officer then a pilot. That's what I am going to do :D, I am currently going to college whether I like it or not to get my degree. It's the best job in the world!! :rawk::rawk:If you have a criminal background then forget about it, misdemeanors are fine as long as you do not have a felony. If you would like to find out more about how to become a pilot in the military, just PM me, I can tell you how to get there. GOOD LUCK!!

Here are some cool videos that might inspire you to be a pilot in the military

No, he's right.

Most kids at 19 are relatively smart (whether they fully realize it or not) and put a heavier focus on hanging out, watching movies, getting drunk, playing cards, etc......than working all the time putting money towards cars.

Let me illustrate this.

A badass car can be obtained at 19 and also at the age of 65, however there's a fairly short period of time where it's alright to fuck the hot 18 year old girl next door.

Well, I'm over that whole "get laid" deal. I've have my fair share and when it comes down to it, I think I got a better feeling rolling around on my stupid fucking skateboard all day, beating my self up for the love of a ridiculous sport. Had I not started powerlifting and gained 60 lbs from 10th grade to my super senior status, I would probably still skate. Right now, I'm just moving on to bigger better things like drifting.

I also got a girl right now who pays for everything (obviously once I get on my feet I'm gonna get her back for it, she expects that) and helps me out when she can. Her parents are gonna rent us out their extra house for like 420 a month *#&%*#(% So she's basically a sweet girl with awesome hook-ups, can't go wrong at all haha.

The military is not something I truly want to excel in (right now) but rather an option for schooling and such. Once I'm done with training and whatnot, I can use their tuition programs to go to a tech school (so long as it's certified).

It's gonna be a hard life but I'm gonna love it and I'm gonna fucking enjoy it no matter what holds me down. Everyday I see it a priority to practice playing drums as much as I can even tho I hold a title around here for it. Everyday I still drag my ass to school and try really hard to just get it done. Everyday I feel I'm gonna get closer and closer to freedom and I'm gonna fucking fight for it!

He said that most 19yos are SUPPOSE to be broke.. unless they inherit money, etc. That is not true.

BUT

Most 19 choose to spend their money on the things you stated above.. which I totally agree with. You only have a short amount of time where its alright to fuck a hot 18yo, etc.

On the flip side,

I've seen some 19yo do both. Make a good amount of money and get fucked up with their friends and enjoy their life as a 19 year old. IMO it's how you choose to invest your time and money.. and how hard/harder you're willing to work.

Pretend to be unemployed. All the bums in your life will dissapear, suddenly you'll be going out a lot less, or at least your friends might hook you up...or you can find free shit to do with your time, or really cheap shit.
-Almost every city has a $1 or $2 movie theater with 2 or 3 month old movies.
-Hiking is free, healthy, and fun.
-Have a change jar at your front door...make people empty their pockets when they walk in.

Don't even buy food. Fuck that! Find someone who works in the food industry and make some exchange with em. Luckily for me, my best friend is the manager of a pizza place open from 5pm to 5am :coold:free wings and pizza and baklava and sunkist, and all I gotta do is be her friend...and give her rides on occasion. If you can't do this, then I guess start buying ramen in MEGABULK, and put your debit card/credit card/etc. in a cup of water and stick it in the freezer. Leave some ramen in your glovebox...hit on ugly chicks for free meals (remember, you're "jobless"). Hang out with family around dinner time.

Find out what you spend the most money on, and make that make YOU money. Your dirty habits think you are a bitch. You aren't a bitch though, are you? Show that bitch who the real bitch is, bitch! Chances are if you do whatever you do a lot, and you do it often...you're pretty knowledgable with it. Apply your intellect and fatten your wallet.
-You spend a lot of money partying? THROW KEGGERS! $5 a cup! Usually around here $50-100 a keg, maybe if you buy em enough you can get a hook up. After 14 or so cups you make your making free money and even if you lose 10 bucks i'm sure you're getting a lot of cheap keg boozerization. You might get laid, or maybe someone will break your TV...hmm. It's a risk!
-You spend a lot of money doing crafts? Sell your work.
-Do you spend all your money buyin recording equipment? Record shit.
-Smoke crack? Sell crack!
-Do you have a hobby which results in a lot of upgrades, so you have hecka used stuff? Get rid of the excess.

99% of you have expensive stuff you don't even use. Why keep something that you barely use? Why keep something that loses value and gains dust?
-Sell your xbox. Hey, you wanna be a cheapass, make a sacrifice!
-Ebay all your stuff. Craigslist your stuff.
-Pawn all the crap you can't get rid of.
-Trade in your CD's and DVD's at your local CD/DVD store.

Find odd jobs. You've probably got spare time. FUCK THAT. You wanna have a baller kouki conversion and that 8 ball of coke, you gotta earn it!
-Sell your friend's cars for $100-500 or 12%...
-Mow lawns...make some fliers, post em up on pay phones/bulletin boards/mailboxes/cars/parkin lot stuff.
-Donate blood or sperm.
-Become a bouncer.
-Get a server job.
-Start metal scrapping.

I was able to get parts here and there when my overhead was low. low phone bills, cook my own food & eat less (as a result i don't get too fat either) cut down on booze, don't buy clothes until the holes and rips get really bad, living as a hermit, etc. discarding social life almost entirely is not too bad once you get used to it. it is surprisingly simple and drama-free. not financing a new car cuts down on costs. Unfortunately for me, I blew what I saved on car parts, track events and consumables (tires, pads, etc).

I don't like to spend any more on my 240. In honesty I've only been spending in repairs and maintenance the last year or so. I've only done 5 autox events and 3 track events this year. When and if I have to, it usually happens randomly and it goes on the credit card.

I just work as a warehouse manager and part time book-keeping clerk. I live pay-cheque to pay-cheque, but I'm extremely thankful that at least I have stable work and a decent boss.

I've never gotten around to appreciate drifting. the prospect of having to change tires even more frequently than i already do discourages me. besides I'm happy with autoXing and a few hpde's a year, being the cheapskate that I am. My immediate goal is to pay off the 7k in credit card debt within the next 6 months or so, so no car stuff for now.

-Become a bouncer.
-Get a server job.
-Start metal scrapping.

best post ever.

i save a shit ton of money by not buying fast food. i've also lost a few pounds. just by eating shit out of the freezer. you can make a meal out of two 40 cent freezer burritos and some salsa.
i watched my roommate make ramen tonight, dump out the water, and put alfredo sauce on it. looked pretty good.

I know some other ways but ehh. It's really easy to make money, just hard to make honest, good money

But i'd rather go about gettin paid in a way that doesn't ruin my dignity. Sometimes I like to hit rock bottom though, like holding signs and doing stupid shit for money.

My friend got half a large pizza and wings for free, AND $20 just to wash my homie's dishes...they were that gross. But seriously, imagine if he could find like 10 similar people to do dishes for...that'd be like $200+ a week!

But yeah, if you don't wanna not buy food, look for sales...buy ramen...buy spaghetti...get rice...stir fry is cheap to make and EASY/fun...make sure to not make TOO much food, don't go feedin your homies, check out the dollar store for food, etc.

QUIT SMOKING!!!

Make a game plan and stick with it. Remember to never spend all your money, and always look for opportunities to make your money into more money.

I have some weird phobia about spending money

i make 35k a year.

to keep as much money towards my very expensive automobile hobby i:
have zero social life besides my g/f. i hang out with friends yeah, but we are all into cars so it works out. i dont go to bars or clubs, rarely eat out. no video arcades or minigolf or other shit like that.

eat in as much as possible.
i take my g/f out to eat maybe 2-3 times a month. we dont order alcoholic drinks (big money saver right there) and even sometimes just drink water. no appetizers, no dessert. most places have big enough portions and you get full off the entree anyway.

get a 2nd job. i have a night job. that helps. especially for you guys with car payments, or lots of bills. luckily i dont have either of those.

dont spend moeny you dont have. even tho maxing out a credit card on car parts will get you instant gratification. it will hurt in the long run. dont spend it if you dont have it!

hustle off shit you have that you dont use dont need and can live without. there's a reason i have a 10+ year old tv and not a fancy widescreen hdtv.

get rid of your fancy cellphone, iphone, blackberry, wahtever. honestly a phone is to make phone calls. you all have computers right? so why do you need a pocket pc?

alot of you guys are big into fashion. but its tough to buy expensive clothes and expensive car parts at the same time. make a choice. or try and find good deals/hook ups on clothes.

if you're poor like most of us and have a car hobby, you got to make sacrifices.

its easy to save money. you just have to make sacrifices and lower your standard of living. if you were ballin in all aspects of life, you wouldnt be in this thread right?? sometimes you just gotta tone it down.

I blew my inheritance. Now I put any loose legal tender bills in a wine bottle so I can't get them out.

I just try to get necessities for my bday or holiday instead of asking for money or gift cards.

Like "hey, my phone is falling apart. Ummm sprint has this $200 phone for sale, $49.99?? It'd mean a ton to meee!"
