View Full Version : s13 RUCA's (Which one?)

Ok, I was given a choice to get used Kazama's ($200). I also found Megans for $142. The dilemma is that the Megan are new and the Kazama are used. The condition is unknown, but I'm sure its ok. Which one would be a better buy?

i'd say the kazama since the joints are probably higher quality

I would say Kazamas over the Megans. Something to also think about, you can save up an extra $60 and get some gangster SPL ones. Just a thought.

yeah i like the SPL idea. save up a little money, or sell your new nikes you just bought, sell some of your mom's jewlery, sell your radio. i'd rather have awesome camber than music. then you can listen to every single bump in the road since you drive a 240.

SPL's new stuff is boss.

I just traded up to the Version 3 stuff, I could kill someone with my toe link, i probably wouldn't even have to be angry its so beefcake.

and kinked to dodge the subframe bushing/frame rail? forget about it.

Kazama and Megan are trash, even leaving SPL out of the equation.

Who would want matte black multi-link?
If I'm to get new parts, I want them to be shiny, or at least colorful.

Questions about suspension parts? SPL is the answer, ALWAYS.

Kuah listens to the problems of his customers, and the parts are changed are made better with each new version. If you have any questions about what you have purchased, or what you should purchase, Kuah and company are willing to help.

MEGAN products wont live long.... Kazama or SPL, its more of an investment but it will pay itself back, if you care about your car and want parts that do the job get some good stuff. I had megan tension rods and seen them on my buddies car after 1 year and I wont get any megan suspension components, maybe the coilovers but thats about it.

The place to buy SPL is SPL.

SPL PARTS (http://www.splparts.com)

With suspension, either buy quality or don't buy at all. No point in taking off Nissan parts and replacing them with junk.

SPL's designs for toe rods, RUCAs, and tie rod ends are essentially unmatched in the market. They're awesome stuff. Well worth the money.

only place you can get them from is SPL directly

or buy used.. beware though some rucas recently had a potential tubing problem due to a bad batch of tubing.

I got the Megan's cause I needed them fast. Hyme joint blew out in under a year. Clicking noise was hell for the week or 2 it took to get the Kazama's. Now days the Kazama's are easy to get and I would get them in a heartbeat.

From my experience kazama's aren't that great, but I would still pick the kazama's over megans any day of the week. You would be better off just saving up for some SPL, battle version, or peak performance RUCA's. You can always just source new bearings for the kazama's, but you won't save much money over the SPL, battle version, or peak performance RUCA's.

Started squeaking real bad a couple months after I got them. Lubed them, then a couple months later I started getting a clicking sound. The retaining clip popped out the side. They have since changed the design. But, has left a bad taste in my opinion of them.

Note: Finish on them was all fucked up when I got them new so I sprayed them to not rust.

Just to throw this in there, because SPL arms are indeed THE SHIT (the shit, as in, 'yo bro, that is the shit yo, it's da bomb'):

I have the V1 T/C rods from SPL, bought back in like 2003? Somewhere around there.

Been on the car since 2003/2004, car is daily driven and sees nasty water everywhere (think Atlantic Ocean spray onto the car), and the heim joints are STILL perfectly fine.

The arms do not bind, the heim rotates freely, even though there is some surface rust on there, but there is absolutely no binding, and everything still works.

That's the kind of quality item you will be getting from SPL. Their arms last a long time with no maintenance, and they just keep working.

Not to mention if you have any sort of concern/problem, just give Kuah and the guys at SPL a call, and they'll bend over backwards just for you, no joke.

You will NOT be disappointed with SPL Parts suspension arms on your car.

It's not that others are bad, it's just people trust SPL

SPL parts are made in the US ( Texas )
SPL support is awesome ( Kuah is on aim during the week )
SPL fixes their defects, and allow you to upgrade to their newest version of product.

Yup, I've heard it over and over again. Everything else is shit compared to SPL. =)

Actually, Peak Performance arms come with Aurora rod ends, which are very good quality too (I have PP RUCAs and toe rods in the rear). Haven't had to deal with their customer service though, so I can't tell you how good/bad they are there.

Battleversion is also very high quality stuff. Alex Pfeiffer (too many "eff"s in his name, can never spell it right) builds all his arms by hand (at least there was a video out there somewhere of him welding his arms up by himself) and from what I've heard he's a great guy to deal with.

Plus what the guy above me said.

Ughh I threw them in the trash, I shouldve taken a picture for reference.

I bought the chrome ones, the weld where one of the adjustment nuts were broke right off, like it was sheered.

Not only were the welds bad but the wall thickness of it was a joke.

I mean I did break it drifting, but they were brand new and it broke on my first run. I didn't even hit anything.

Then I got pbm ones, indestructible.

It was sitting Vertical till it popped the retainer out the side. That pic was with me pushing on it to have the retainer show(black stripe).

You can see how they switched joints and put a cover on the back of the threaded section.
