OP,
you don't need 18x9 front for a drag setup.....look for skiness like 16x4 or 16x 5 and run 189-195 front tire...
also run some WELD racing rims...somthing like 15x10.5 and run FULL slick...stay away from DR,street carp...
for coilovers run HKS Drag coilovers With FULL soft rear and stiff front...you have IRS rear end so you will get ton of wheel hop if you don't do it right...
Check Supraforums.com and go to the drag racing section then copy-paste there setup's and change accordingly to you'r car...
some guys might not like this.....:hahano:

What? :tweak:
Why is there a NEED to run a FULL SLICK? I highly doubt the car will need it.
I know people going into the 8's-9's on DRAG RADIALS.
not much need for a full slick there.

This is not necessarily a drag setup, but its my street/dd setup that I used on the track as well. Should give you a ball park of where you'll end up if you get in a clean run. I think that you can pull off low 12's high 11's with street tires.

Not much input on my end but i really haven't done much to the car yet. Nor taken it to the 1/4, but took it to the 1/8 mile a few times now.
But i have found a 4k slip the best launch for me in my s14, i cut 2.0 60' w/ stock wheels and tire size(33psi) w/ a welded rear end, stock suspension, SR w/ fmic and
[email protected] 7psi.
My friend cuts 1.9 60' w/ open diff, stock tires (33psi), eibach on stock struts, in his s13 hatch, SR, slipping the clutch at 4k also.

M/t ET Street/Radial is where it's at
The reason reason you see 8/9 second cars on drag radials is cause they are fully built drag cars with custom everything that make them do the 1/4 really fast. Also, solid axel vs. IRS makes a difference.
How many 8 second supras are on drag radials?
Personally, I have 275 MT ET streets(drag radials) They hook much better then my RT615. But, they still leave more to be desired. Granted with more track time and suspension setup I am sure that I can get more out of them(like a nasty burn out). My next drag tires are going to be a slick.

Run stock suspension in the rear, Nitto 555R drag tires, with like 10psi in the tire. You don't need alot of tire as it's better to spin the tires on the launch than it is to hook and break your transmission.

im about to go to my stock suspension soon. i have tein he coilovers. i run nitto 555r on my car now. they hook good. but you really have to drop the psi like you said to 10 but still great tires for the money.

You're serious? I run full wrinkle MT slicks, and I've ran MT Drag Radials. I've pulled 1.6 60 foots with slicks and best on drag radials was 1.8.
I guess I'm trying to figure out why slicks aren't needed, anything for traction and a better 60 foot is better.

More then You would think,
as an active SupraForums member since 2005 i have seen more 8 sec supra's on a D/r then i can shake a stick at.
I'm not trying to come off as an asshole, but Drag racing is my preferance so i happen to get more into the drag scene then the drifting scene.
But what ever man, If you think D/R don't work go talk to the people who are going 7's-8's @ 200+MPH on a DRAG RADIAL and tell them that they don't work.
Drag radials NEED a big nasty burnout to really get the tires hookin, thats where alot of people forget. I see alot of people just drive up to a line and launch expecting there car too hook. there is alot more to a 60ft then the tires.

wow thats a nice time on regular tires, my car isn't a 'drag strip' car, but I'm looking for a street setup that I can just take to the track and hit low numbers if you guys understand my blabber. lol. I only goto the track maybe 3-4 times a year, and I'm looking to make changes before the start of next season.

what suspension setup you thinking of using
I have some lowering springs that came with the car when I originally bought it, I'm planning to finish up the motor work first cause that what matters more to me. my build order motor>lsd>suspension>looks.
Also I have gutted much of the rear and removed the a/c system along with other misc parts, but I drive around w/ a huge sub woofer box [go figure] but it is easily removable when I'm at the track, I figure theres about 150lbs I could easily shed off the car before I went to the track.
As far as wheels go I do not have the funds to necessarily have a set of wheels for the track, maybe I'll invest in some rears in the future for this [safety] purpose. I want to run something thats good for the street, and the track [granted I know tires can cost a lot]

i see a lot of ppl running RT615's for drag racing.. This makes no sense to me, unless you just wanted to see what your car would do. IF your planning on drag racing only, tires like the RT's are not choice, they have extremly hard sidewalls.Drag tires have soft sidewalls to optimize strait line traction.

That's one of the things I'm looking into every other day haha, Just tryna finish up the chassis first It's almost done, I'll post a couple pics in a few days when product is finished!
Also gonna finish up this Ka I have in my yard, probly gonna sell the sr and just finish up the ka. I have most of the ka parts ready to go from a while back, Just need to pick up a set of Je pistons 9.1 compression stock bore, then my rebuild parts list is compete short of the bc fully counter weighted crank which I'd like to have building this ka but its about the same price as doing a vvl head on the sr!
With the money from the sr I can easily finish the machine work on the block and head of the ka and assemble it and possibly if I can find good deals finish the valve train setup on the head.

I knew several people that ran with stock suspension with success. The fastest one to boot that I know of was an s13 coupe with basic bolt-ons on an SR ran mid 12s, but was fully gutted also. It was a member on Freshalloy YEARS ago.
