I had a turbo on my elise (GT2871RS) and it kinda sucked. these cars do much better with something more linear...

I can't imagine how that car would be with a 35R. the 2871 was laggy on the 1.8. my sti with a 35r was laggy.
i'm over drag racing. it sucks.
EDIT: i like that wing tho. Wide support wings FTW.

Very nice. I've been thinking of selling my s13 and integra to help pay for one. That would leave me with a lotus and s14... Seeing these pics makes me want to do it so much now!

insurance is less than my sti was.
i sold the range rover, i'm trading the STi in on an 08 rabbit.
If i ever get the itch to make the exige faster, i certainly have the capability to turbo it.
If i want to go really fast tho, i'll have the GTR BMW

I could sell 2 of my vehicles and afford the down payment you just made with some extra to spare... Maybe I'll pick one up. I like them and they're actually within my price range if I decided I wanted some debt and found a good deal on a used one. haha

It was just a deposit. Down payment is about 30K, financing the other 30K @ 4.5%... not too bad, i guess.
however, you can get an 07 exige S for about 45000 bucks... pretty good price. You can get an elise for under 30 all day, but the exige is substantially hotter. At first i preferred the elise, but seeing both in person exige >>> elise
I also picked up a new white 08 VW rabbit to DD. LOL.

45,000 would be in my range, but I know I'm just talking here, I'm not gonna actually do it while I'm in school.

CF rear diffuser

Rear panel delete
HIDs
Catch can
Motor Mounts
I really want CF side scoops for it too...

Wspecially in the front. The front subframe is fiberglass + CF, it damages VERY easily and costs about 5000 just for that piece...

Because of the very high sill it is a pain to get in, but they make a downlow seat rail kit which puts it as low as possible, that also helps.
legs first sit in the sill then shimmy or limbo!

Yeah, once I'm in the seat I am fine. It's that the sill is higher then the seat.

What color are your respective interiors. His was tan and i thought it was pretty gross looking... Exterior of the car is cool, especially for an early 90's car, but i can't imagine paying that kind of money for one of the newer ones...

After owning an elise and appreciating it's spartan interior, I'm kind of pushing this car to be a little more... "nice" inside. That said, even though i think the exposed aluminum inside the car is "racey", I'm going to try and "class up" the interior of my exige a bit... So i decided to get rid of some of the exposed aluminum by vinyl wrapping some of it... I figure if i hate it, i'll just peel it off.
Was kind of a pain in the butt to do the floor. Had to apply it dry, because the contour of the floor made it impossible to squeeze out misted water. Each one took about 4 attempts and almost an hour to get installed.
Also wrapped the center gusset, which isn't a gusset at all and is only held in place by 4 plastic tabs... Go figure.

2) Installed Bane's stealth bulbs
3) Blacked out the front amber side markers
4) Installed LED festoon bulbs in the license plate bracket
1) I have DDM 6000K HIDs. The incandescent parking lights did not look good next to nice white/blue color of the HIDs (obviously)
Here is a pic of HIDs + OEM parking lights:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v516/ctnewman2/IMG00106.jpg
Here is a pic of just the OEM parking lights:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v516/ctnewman2/exige35.jpg
I purchased two types of bulbs from superbrightleds.com
in WHITE
http://superbrightleds.com/products/car/wleds/wled-whp9.jpg
and
in COOL WHITE
http://superbrightleds.com/products/car/wleds/wled-x6.jpg
I probably should have gotten the wled-x6 in "natural white, because it turned out pretty blue. However, it wasn't a big deal because the -whp9 looked SOOO much better.
Installed:
-x6:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v516/ctnewman2/exige36.jpg
-whp9
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v516/ctnewman2/exige34.jpg
It's hard to tell in the pic, but the whp9 illuminates MUCH better than the -x6. Definitely the better choice (and 3 times the price!!)
Here's a pic of both -whp9 with the HIDs on:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v516/ctnewman2/exige37.jpg
2: Installed stealth bulbs in the turn signals... not a lot to say here, you used to be able to see the amber bulb lurking inside the small inboard housing, but not anymore.
Reference pic:
http://www.stealthauto.com/images%5CProducts%5C300x%5C7507.jpg
Here's a pic:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v516/ctnewman2/exige38.jpg
3: Blacked out the amber sidemarker... Used overlays that i bought for my first lotus from stickercity.com that i never wound up installing them. Somehow i managed to not lose them. I only put them on the front for now, i think it might be a bit much if also installed on the rear. I hate amber, but i don't mind red. I like the way they look!
Some pics:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v516/ctnewman2/exige39.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v516/ctnewman2/exige40.jpg
4: Lastly I installed these LED bulbs in the license plate area:
http://superbrightleds.com/products/car/festoons/3910.jpg
Got "cool white" it's definitely pretty blue, but not as blue as the pictures seem to show. It's probably about equivalent to an 8K hid bulb. I think it looks really fu!cking good though, especially because there are no other "white-ish" bulbs in that area. (rear end is now red, white, and blue-ish!!! sooo patriotic)

CT: I love the 240S, but hate that it's going to delay the 325rb project. I had to sell my 325es just because it reminded me of that build. Kidding, congrats man.

Oh, i also forgot to mention:
I also machined/installed a short throw shifter that i designed and prototyped for a guy in the summer (he had to send me all his parts, i designed the part and prototyped it, now he sells them). Since i obviously still have the cad drawing for the part, i whipped one up on the mill (only takes about an hour to make by hand).
looks like this:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v516/ctnewman2/shortthrow4.jpg
here's a crappy pic of it machined and installed on the shift linkage:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v516/ctnewman2/IMG00120.jpg
Feels really nice. The 2,4,6 portion of the shift is in the same location, the 1,3,5 portion is substantially closer to the driver, which is nice.
This animation flashes the difference between 1st gear w/ the stock, then 1st w/ the short throw... (this is a picture from a customer's car)

If I wanted, I could probably link 10 threads where lotus drivers were backed into, even while laying on the horn... so I decided to install some Hella Supertones.
Anyway, I decided to mount them outside of the air duct, behind the front access tray.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v516/ctnewman2/exige44.jpg
They are WAYYYY louder than stock. Word.
And if anyone's wondering what the underside of a lotus looks like:

Ok, finally got some pics of my headunit install.
I wanted a backup camera, but didn't want a flipout , so i got a JVC single din DVD head unit with a 3.5" screen, pretty slick. Running the wires for the camera to the front of the car sucked, i cut the fuck out of my self and bled everywhere. The hardest part was actually getting the head unit in the din slot because there is tons of shit hanging off the back of the unit.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v516/ctnewman2/exige53.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v516/ctnewman2/exige60.jpg
Anyway, here is the backup camera, it's a BOYO 420T (SWEEEEEEET NAME)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v516/ctnewman2/exige58.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v516/ctnewman2/exige57.jpg
I also installed an ipod adapter that displays ipod video, song information and everything i need right on the screen, control the ipod via head unit too, drill down just like ipod. I installed that behind the passenger side dash access cover, kinda hard to see, it's the black box below the silver part:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v516/ctnewman2/exige50.jpg
In the standard wiring configuration, the backup camera turns on 2 ways, either when it senses a signal from the reverse lights, or when you select it by cycling through the sources on the head unit. Scrolling through the sources will cut off the music.
I wanted to be able to instantly turn on the camera while in any forward gear, for passing and just because the rear visibility is so poor. So i wired up a micro SPDT switch. In one position, it simply connects the head unit to the reverse lights, so it functions as normal, put it in reverse, camera goes on. In position 2, it connects the signal wire to a +12v source, so it triggers the camera instantly, at any point while driving, without having to mess with the head unit at all. I used some molex connectors to make installation and removal easier, and installed it in the drivers side start button panel. Super easy to get to and totally hidden.

lotus has notoriously shitty sound systems, but this JVC unit has been used by a lot of lotus guys with great results... There aren't any (that i can find) single din headunits with screens that big.
This unit is fairly similar to the Alpine CDA-9856 that was OEM, just with a screen and a better ipod interface.

THEY HATE ME. But their just pissed off because I tell them as much as they want to believe it, their car isn't much different than any other car. They don't need to spend 350 bucks on an oil change... "but it's a LOTUS!!!!!"
I probably won't do too much more to it. I might do a header+tune+pulley... should net 280 WHP or so...
