Hey, just wanted to know what you guys like more, drifting or drag racing? I live in south florida and the drag racing scene is huge (whether its on the street or strip) the drifting scene has really just started to catch on down here in the last couple of years. both are great but I'm still a drag fan....

Drag racing is boring to watch and get's boring to do.

Drifting, well I've seen too many cars destroyed by it.

Grip is always fun to me.

BTW, anything on public roads is stupid and should not be discussed or glorified in a Public Setting like this.

This is a drag racer converted to grip.

It really is amazingly better, but grip racing with drag level horsepower get's expensive (setting up the car properly that is).

Still have track outings on hold for quite a while until I get some more sorted

I think the big problem is 1/4 mile tracks are almost none existent in southern cali, if there were more present and they were not obscenely overcrowded, I would do drag racing more often.

It's a good place check a car and driver skill and much cheaper for a track outing, but MUCH less time on the track ;) especially if the car is fast. Then it's a good thing ;)

Drag is boring.
Transbrake button for launch,
gearing and tune for the rest of the work
whats the driver do??
track conditions decide tire temp that you should have.
whats the driver do??

Just my opinion growing up watching my brother drag race for a company.
drag racing is a rush when your young, but once you get used to driving for awhile, its boring.

Straight line with a max speed of 100MPH then hurry and stop
vs.
2 car lengths off another 240's bumper, Motley Crue blasting, entering a corner sideways at 75MPH and doing 2 car tandem drift, engine maxed out, in oversteer, tires smoking, dirt dropping the rear tire on the exit with a speed of 50MPH as you and the other car toss the wieght, and MAhji down the straight together with your passenger giggling like a little girl.

he with the most money wins in drag racing.

No idea..

Drag racing brackets make it so anyone can compete. You dont have to have lots of money to win a bracket. You can spent 10g's and get a car that will run 12's no problem and win a nice sized pot if your consistent.

Also someone said drag gets boring.. Dude, try duplicating the feeling of a 800+ HP launch on slicks, then the decel of pulling the chutes. You dont get board of that, ever.

+1 for GRIP :D

comairing Drag racing to Drifting is like compairing apples to oranges.

It takes. Money and SKILL in both forms of motorsports.

For those saying anyone can go in a straight line. how fast is your car in a straight line? maybe it's cause you have a Sr swap and you maybe on a good day go 13's. yah. that's boring. once you get going 12/11/10/9/8/etc it's a whole new ball game.

i'm a CAR enthusiast. i enjoy them all. it all depends on the mood.

People who think drag racing is " What does the driver do " have not done any serious drag racing.

I had more fun at the road course but drag racing required an equal level of skill, consistency and nerve, especially at higher output levels.

Most of the reason I left is because shady lack of payouts, dwindling scene (west coast) and the immature people who crowded a lot of the industry.

This has now spilled over into drifting too now. Pretty much anything that is made into a fast and furious movie and people eventually conform and consume.

I think bonniville or top speed testing is a great sport, but it is much more apparent in europe than the US or Australia or Japan.

actually whoever said about honda, they make great cars. light chassis with a b series or k20 swap with some mods and tuning run very decent times, especially compared to domestics, which are fun also.

drag is different from drift and nothing can be said to compare the two in skill.

but drifting to me is definitely more fun. it is an art. skill based art
