that looks like a nice phone. samsung does make nice phones. but.
windows mobile is the shittiest mobile OS on the planet. i love XP, i love Vista, and OSX can eat my cock. but windows mobile is absolutely horrible.

wait for a good Android phone, many more are on the way besides the G1

I agree windows mobile isnt the best but the reviews so far have been pretty good for the phone over all. I'll have to give it a once over when verizon finally gets them in store. Plus I get 20% off verizon from my job soooo... F*** the Storm. ;)

that does seem be a very reasonable value for the features. Verizon does need better phones. I'm not a big fan of Samsung in general, but this model surely seems like its worth checking out.

WinMo = fail. I have not seen any quality products that actually WORK with WinMo.

Palm = gold.
Symbian = gold.
blackberry os = gold.

The omnia runs windows pretty damn well. Windows mobile isnt that bad if it didnt crash or lag so much. I just wish it didnt. Right now symbian's been the best OS in terms of stability and speed.

What happened to the good ol days when just having a phone was cool. Then came cameras on the phone, then picture messaging... And now we get a 'gizmo 500' that has sooo many features and such. The days of simplicity are gone.

I say this posting from my blackberry pearl. Ha ha

Phone looks good. Too bad I'm on lame t mobile.

I concur. They lost me at that point. Windows mobile works great for a few months but get ready for it to suck at anytime with out warning. I'll keep my storm thank you very much. It has been greatly improved since I got the leaked .75 upgrade.

haha... I was thinking the exact same thing the other day. I remember my first phone. It was a barebones LG. It had a blue screen background with plain font black text and THREE options for a "wallpaper" :hsdance:... and we all thought it was so cool at the time, but I'll give it this. That phone worked like a charm for 3 years. The more complicated something is, the more can go wrong.

For me the iPhone is still the best. It's been around long enough now that there's lots of support and basically any problem with anything has been troubleshot by someone... It's just a matter of a google search. Plus, with a jailbroken and unlocked 2G iPhone, like mine, you can get ridiculous amounts of third party apps and downloads.

I do not get the people who are still saying "But it's so hard to get third party software on an iPhone!!" :ugh:

I have no idea what that means, the windows mobile I have used is the one they just comes on it, no altercations

never get a phone day 1. I tried getting the rzr a few years back when they first released it and it sucked. To this day my favorite phone of all time was half the size of my arm. It was the first push to talk.

The last Sony Ericsson I owned was the last Sony Ericcson I will ever own. It was the worst phone I ever had. I went through 4 of them while the thing was under warranty. Nokia and Symbian are where its at.

windows mobile is great.. i just suspect you might not like it if you dont know that its just like a pc, cant leave too many programs open/resource hogs. which then i can see a non-tech savy person complaining about its performance. But if you like to tinker with shit, tweak, even overclock , win mobile is cool. Whenever a new windows mobile version comes out, you can bet that theres people already adapting it to an older phone, doing performance tweaks. Compatable with your pc,win xp/vista. Mine autosyncs with outlook so it backs up all my phone numbers, and acts like a temporary hard drive i can click drag and drop files etc.

Nice looking phone btw.

Yes the Omnia has been out for months now, but it is just now being picked up by an American phone provider. Why would I pay 799.00 for an unlocked XPERIA thats only slightly better than the HTC Touch Pro/Fuze? If I was gonna blow that kind of money, it would be on the new Nokia N97 that was just released. But sorry I would never pay over 300.00 for a cell phone, and thats pushing it.

If you have T-mobile u'll be getting the Samsung Behold with out windows mobile, but just about the same phone.

The few things I like about this phone from working with it is

not crippled like the touch pro

screen size

8GB internal and expandable external memory slot for 16gb.

the touch pro even tho it has the full hardware keyboard is rather heavy, memory is crippled, and small screen size(2.8 vs omnias 3.2)... the few things that do work for it is the keyboard and the vga resolution (640x480 vs omnias 400x240)

one thing you can count on is cooked rom with htc models... which make the devices quicker and funner with all the customizing you can do... samsung phones don't get the exact same treatment with roms so I hope they may get some attention this time.

the touch on the omnia is GENERATIONS better than the glyde.

Storm has created too many hurricans with all the buggieness in the OS release...

Yes! The touch pro/hd doesn't support ATT 3G... As of right now I think the X1 is the only one that works with ATT 3G. Also when compared to HTC Touch, its good, but camera sucks, the design of the casing is plastic and highly scratchable and finger prints. The X1 is full metal casing, full keyboard.

I just got one of these toys for a family member. so far it seems to be surprisingly user friendly, almost as good as the i-phone. we're slowly playing with the features and discovering things here and there. what seems exceptional is the aesthetic design and higher quality of the materials used. these really have to be appreciated in person.

things we're not too satisfied about the phone, is that the qwerty keyboard seems a bit more difficult to use than it would seem. maybe it's a personal thing, but I still think the 'sidekick' has the best of this feature. also the rear batter cover is almost impossible to remove. I almost snapped off my nail trying to do so. searching on how to deal with on google, I found out many had the opposite prob of the cover falling off all the time. SonyEricsson must have messed in the QC when it came to manufacturing this specific part. It's not a deal killer, but it kinda sucks that you have to be dealing with this on a $900 phone.

We'll keep on playing with it. seems like a fun phone otherwise. if verizon had the X1, I'd consider one as well. just can't deal with the poor signal quality of AT&T and all the dropped calls I get.

Yah I want to pick one up, you can sign up for a 2 year contract and a full data and voice plane you can get one at $495 actually. A bunch of places were selling it at this price up here in norcal. Its very nice....

I think the US version are updated versions.... The EU versions were almost released pre production, but man I am jealous this thing is very very high quality build and the camera and video is stunning.

Yah unfortunately Verizon isn't quite 3G in california, they are like Edge, slightly different, but fast for internet still.

I have an htc touch running on windows mobile and it's awesome. I have every program I could want. Windows mobile takes some tweaking to become good, but it is very customizable. My phone never crashes at all and it's nice to watch videos on skyfire and not be limited on the internet. I can't count the amount of times I used google earth or microsoft live search. I have a feeling that some people just got the phone or used windows mobile briefly and decided not to like it. Windows mobile is similar to windows in that you have to add programs. The cool thing to do is get an Iphone or G1 anyway these days.
