What are the possible ways that coolant will get into your oil? I've been having white smoke at startup, but would go away after warming up. The car does not overheat, but I have been getting smoke coming out the part where the coolant line bolts to the bottom of the upper radiator hose neck.

I see some coolant under the oil fill cap. I get boost, but feel like I'm not getting the power. Does a blown headgasket cause a drop in power?

I tried starting the car with the radiator cap off and it's fine. However, i do not get hot air when turing on the heater. Is my headgasket about to blow, but not there yet?

runs rich as well.

Sounds like a Blown a H/G, Its possible to blow the H/G between between coolant and oil passages and not Cylinders

Do a compression and leakdown test to help pinpoint it.

Yes a bad H/G will cause a loss in power

but this is all part of one gasket right?

should coolant in the system ever be smoking? it started leaking smoke out the upper radiator hose neck from the bolt that connects the turbo line.

yeah the H/G is all one gasket that seals Oil, Coolant, and cylinders

No the coolant system should never be smoking. its probably just that hot and evaperating? Are you running straight water?

As far as you heater not getting warm, I BELIEVE the S14's Heater core Bypass Valve is electronic?? ProjectRDM Knows for sure.
So the motor might be out for it.

So you saw no bubbles when you open the Rad. cap with the engine running?

no bubbles and not overheating. i was pushing it too cause I thought maybe i had a boost leak. I didn't feel like i was getting the power from full boost 14psi.

So there's no other reason why I would see coolant under the oil fill cap other than leaking through the hg? this is the part that worries me most.

Just do a compression test.

Coolant in oil is never good and means the motor is on its way out and most likely already gone.

Yeah you have a BHG. You can get smoke coming out of there because coolant is going into an oil passage or a combustion chamber and those gases are entering the cooling system. Happens all the time

got the comp tester. post results when i get them, but can someone tell me how i would disable the ignition coil on s14 sr? i know s13 had the ignitor chip thing that i could unplug, but not sure about the s14.

S14 is the Same but make it easier and Disconnect the CAS

been a while and need some help!

first i started to flush the coolant because i broke a line. I lifted the car up and started filling water through the radiator cap. it was going well, idle stablized after warming up to operating temp. i kept topping it off and started to bubble a lil so i figure the air was getting out the system. then, it stared to blow smoke through the cap. after a lil while longer, it started shooting out like a fountain so i shut it off. the temp gauge never went past operating temp. there was some milky white stuff on the oil fill cap, but not really on the dip stick.

The compression was 120, 120, 120, 130. Man, it looks like a blown hg. what yall think?

just searched some threads and i might of did it wrong. I didn't step on the gas to open the throttle while doing the compression test. how much of an effect would this have?

yea do it again with wot.

pull your fuel pump fuse.

deff sounds like a bhg tho.

under 135psi is bad news

120-130 compression across the board is not a good sign of a healthy engine. Somehow I think the HG is the least of your worries. Drop a capful of oil in each cylinder and do the compression test again in each cylinder. If the compression goes up, then your piston rings are done too.

Anyways, I dont know how your trying to bleed your coolant system. Turn the car on, turn the heater on full blast, fill the radiator up, massage the upper radiator hose. Raising the front end helps too. Keep massaging the hose till you feel it get hot. Keep an eye on the the radiator filler if your still getting bubbles. I dont understand why your radiator would be smoking. It shouldnt get that hot for it to steam up that quick unless something major is fucked up in the system.
