i just know that massive flaming will ensue, but... i want lambo doors. does anyone have any information on how to make them? i saw them (here comes a big flame target) on a '93 civic hatch last night. the car was a piece of crap- ****ty faded paint, primered "combat" bumper, altezzas, fartcan- but the doors... oh baby. he opened those and had a crowd in seconds. they're just that cool. so deos anyone have info? i know welding and custom fabrication is definately involved- and since i'm just about to repaint my car and replace a few panels, i figured maybe some trick doors aren't too far out of the realm of possibility...

Nobody has done it as far as I know. But, lambo doors are overrated. The door swings up and is still going to be in your way. Gull wing (a la Delorean or Mercedes. . . whatever series that was) where the doors are hinged towards the center of the roof and swing up. Those are slick. Lambo doors are just. . . Dunno, always seem like too much of a pita to me :P

You should do suicide doors, with the hinge at the back :P OOH OOH, OR AT THE BOTTOM!! Have it roll down like a step! OK, now I"m just flaming :-)

The roll down/step idea would be kinda neat.

yes yes
but i think a sliding door (like the one on ford windstar/aerostar) will be a lot better and cooler :p

Hey, why do you even need doors?

i agree... just go "dukes of hazard" style, weld the doors shut and shave the handles... haha :D

naw but if you're really interested there was a company that was/is making a custom kit for civics. the company was working on making them for other makes and models... who knows maybe the 240's on the list by now... if i can find the site i'll post it.

hey want me to check if they make alteezas for you too :p ....

im jk with you... to each his own

Check ebay for "kits" it would be easier to just remove the door buy a hinge and some hydrolics and do it yourself. Also check out www.stupidthingsthatahondaownerwoulddo.com for directions :o

I wonder if lambo owners want nissan doors

ok...come one guys, who clicked it?!

thought i should add something useful, I like the idea of delorean doors, but lambo's are kinda redonkulous...I wanna do the saloon doors, the kind the Sheriff walks though in old westren movies....yea....that would rock...

note the sarcasm...NOTE IT!!

everything i expected....

yeah, i saw a camaro with the door cut in half diagonally- when you opened 'em, the bottom half would fold down like a step and the top would swing back suicide-style.... that camaro also had a RHD conversion and a seat made from plexiglas.... but anyway, i just think lambo doors are sweet. the kits are built so you can open the doors like normal doors, and then they go up if you want to draw attention. i was just wondering if anyone knew how this worked exactly...

oh, and yeah, some extra-chromey altezzas would be great- but i think i'm just gonna go ahead and put supra tails on it :p
KIDDING.

lambo doors would look cool on any sports car...

but i think gull wing doors would look better. i've heard somewhere that those conversion cost anywhere up to $10K . so i don't think its worth it.. but hey its still cool.

why all the hating on hondas?..

agreed, but it's not worth the time, cost, extra weight and annoyance just to impress ppl.

It's not so much that ppl hate hondas here, it just that we have very strong negative feelings about ppl taking a 240 and wasting it's potential on show.

minivan doors would 0wn. With normal doors, you try opening them while driving and they get slammed shut. minivan doors-- never. Imagine the possibilities!

well, it would take a lot of time, but the only thing lambo doors add for weight is a hydraulic system similar to the one on the hatch's trunk, and there's some welding/custom bits involved... but i was told the overall cost is like 500 bucks, provided you don't pay for the welding. and it wouldn't just be to impress people.. it'd be for my own enjoyment, mainly. impressing people is just a nice bonus :p

and as far as me wasting the car's potential on show... it's my daily drive. it's not going to be a carpet queen. i'm currently saving up to replace a couple panels, pull dents, and repaint it. i'm doing it all myself, minus the paint/clearcoat. that's Maaco's job... i just blew a small fortune on a new distributor, coil and ICM (not in that order) chasing an electrical bug. now that the car's running nice again, i can proceed with the bodywork, and then comes new shocks/struts and springs, camber plates, front and rear STB's, and a VLSD.... probably by june on that. i'm not too concerned with power, as i feel the KA is a reliable little chunk of metal and provides enough go-fast for me. i'd just like it to look and handle better...
i'm not all fo' show. please don't see it that way...
