Do I need them? We're talking about the little, quarter-sized sheet metal retaining springs that go in the Z32 calipers, one per pad. There's a hole for the retaining pin to go through, and a hook that goes up over the top of the pad. It looks as if it functions like a spring, to keep the pad from moving around too much.

BUT, do I need it there? It makes removing/installing the pads marginally more difficult, and it's a stupid small piece of sheet metal that seems like it will be easy to lose.

I'm inclined to leave it out, and just stick the shims in there, but not if it'll cause uneven pad wear or cause too much noise.

Input appreciated.

All you need are the pads. Everything else is trash.
