Ok in still pretty new to the 240 group but heres my story.
was in to Hondas did the whole turbo civic deal, blowin motors and plowin(understeer) through corners and in the end it was no fun. Bought a 98 fullsize chevy lifted it and it was great(still have and love it) now my newest project/toy is a 1990 240sx fastback that I bought for $200...yes $200 with a blown motor and a few dents, but nothing major. I also purchased the very next week another 1990 240sx with a good motor but bad body for a whopping $200. So now i have a running s13 for $400 yeah it needs paint but still a good deal by me...
Now heres my delema.
My tires are in no shape to drive safe on(stock steelies) and I dont have alot of money for new rims
I wanted to get some suggestions on some rims that wont break the bank. I also work for a shop that can get just about any rim...I just need some ideas
I like almost all of the ssr old skool rims (mesh, super mesh, Super fins, Ex-c line)
What size offset and type of rim should I get. Looking to spend less than $1000
on the rims and tires ( tires I can get for like $60-80 a tire for 17")
any suggestions with pics would definately help out
TIA
Scott

you could always pic up a set of Stock weels from a Junk yard.. I think the older 280zx's had stock meshies too.

The Axis VPD is a fairly inexpensive wheel that also manages to be light, strong, and attractive. It's not as sweet on a 240 as the oldschool meshies, but if you want a good combo of price, quality, and clean looks it's a solid bet. It's five-spoke and available in gold, white, silver, or gunmetal (mmm, gunmetal). Also looks like it has plenty of brake clearance if you plan to upgrade. www.wheelmax.com has them for $150/wheel for the 17x7 size. When I get my S13 I'll buy this wheel if nothing better has come out by then.

Good luck with your search.

I have some old school Volk mesh for sale. 15x6.5 +19 for $400 with no tires. You can pay shipping, and I can get them to you, thats not a big problem.

My personal opinion: I hate S-chassis with 17's that are narrower than 8 or 9 inches and have an offset higher than +30 on either of those widths. First, the wheels are "sunk" into the body due to the FWD-type offsets, second, the rim has clearance issues with the struts, especially coilovers. Especially for under $1000 rims are cheap and don't fit properly on our cars. unless you get used rims.

old school mesh/watanabe-type rims: look dope, imo, fit right (A lot of old RWD cars), and fit with teh S13's image a whole lot better than 17's. I have 17's but I also have a bodykit that looks good with big wheels. Anything above 16's on a stock bodied S13 look odd to me.

Thanks for the opinions guys. I have to agree with dorifto about big rims....Im thinking that they wont look good either.... Im pretty sure ill end up with ssr reverse mesh.....16x8's or somethin like that.....now the problem is finding them...=)
