What exaust system can I get for under $350? I have a 95 S14 and I'm not willing to pay more than $350. Thanks.

I don't neccessarily want to know that HKS or Apexi are the best, I just want to know what sounds great (oh that deep throaty sound) and how much you paid for your exaust. Is custom work a good idea? Any thought/suggestions welcomed.

I like the sound of the N1 Dual. Oh, and shouldn't this go into chat?

You can get a pretty slick custom exhaust system for that price, that's probably the route I would go.

I have heard too many horror stories. For just a bit more......
I would seriously save up for a catback set up.

That said, I paid $25 for "the cat --> back" off of a 1991 SE. Mine was rusted out, but I have yet to to take it to a shop to install it.

at that price, i'd think your best bet would be to go with a used exhaust. i got my hks hiper used for 375. it's got that deep throaty sound you want. sounds awesome and looks great on the s14. if you're planning on going turbo, you could always spend a little more and get the apexi N1.

well my setup cost me $240.00

$120.00 for the dual N1 style w/ 2 silencers
$120.00 for full 2.25 mandrel piping

sounds good, feels good =) i don't know about HP gains.. feels more powerful on freeway.. but thats about it.

If your not interested in performance and just want sound then just get a muffler off of eBay...

I'm definetly worrried about performance, I'm not running turbo, so an HKS Hyper is the best, does anybody run Apexi GT Spec exhaust? When I read that an exhaust is $400 - like the Apexi GT Spec - does that mean that they are full catback? Are they stainless steel? How long do they last for?

For an NA KA, your best bet would be to go with the 5Zigen Fireball. It'll give you a good boost in all ranges of the torque bad. It won't have the same HP increases as others but you'll have the torque.

If your looking for a bit more HP, go with the KHS hi-power and on top of that maybe the Apex N1 Dual.

I like the single "canon" like exhausts, but what about life? How long does a stainless steel cat-back exhaust last for?

Just be sure to clean it or wipe it off when you wash your car and what not and it should last as long as you keep your car washed.

I was searching for the exhaust's you guys mentioned, and I noticed that they all have a range of prices. Some sites sell the HKS Hyper for $400 and other sites sell it for up to $550!! What is up with that? Does anybody know any sites where I can buy a exhaust for cheap?? Lowest possible price.

I currently have a GT Spec and it's way too big. Me and my friends kid around that it looks like a grape fruit shooter. Personally I'm sick of cannonball exhausts. If they would just make a nice dual tip like Remus does for bimmers, I would want one of those. I'd say go for a HKS Hiper or 5 zigen Fireball if you're staying naturally aspirated. Both of those have sizes for a non-turbo car. I would think the price depends mostly on inventory the store is carrying, but either way, don't be cheap when it comes to your car.

I got my A'PEXi N1 dual for $300 brand new. My pals bought a car shoppe in the area and they were clearing out their inventory. It so happened that they had the N1 dual for my car hanging on the wall......I got real lucky. But for $350, your best bet is used.......Good Luck finding an exhaust!

Guys.. if you're giving advice, give good advice, please.
Muffler shops can't be that bad... get a pic online, and have them duplicate the design with a mandrel bender. They won't be as durable.. but hey, you're bieng cheap, and I have no sympathy.
Anyway. Nobody, ever should get an Apex'i GT Spec. That's stupid! 3.75" piping is too big for even a damn turbo 240sx, and you'll lose all sorts of torque due to the low velocity of the exhaust gasses.
Also.. for about $400, get the 5Zigen NA. It's 2.5" piping, and has many dynos of about 12rwhp gains. It is the best NA exhaust available according to many people, myself included. I haven't heard a sound clip, but everyone says that it is deep, mellow and quiet. HKS exhaust are $$$, and give very low hp increases. Stay away from them. Apex'i exhausts also give very good power gains, but will take away torque due to the 3" piping. It's all a trade-off.
Also.. for an NA, 2.25-2.5" piping is optimal... larger if a turbo is in your future.
