1989 black coupe 240sx 5 speed. Just under 150k. Car is completely stock has new water pump. Runs fine, HUD works perfectly. No problems with the actual running of the car. Drives straight, holds idle. Exterior needs some work, minor front end damage, nothing to ghastly but it's not that great cosmetically, perfect for a front end conversion.
Why am I selling? Car broke down this week, with a coolent leak, and a leaking waterpump. After repairs, I don't have a lot of money left. Also, I've had my eye on some mr2s locally.
Car is in Seattle, WA. my email is
[email protected] or post here.
Car has a pioneer cdplayer with remote under warrenty (interesting story behind that) not currently included but if the buyer wants it we can work something out.
forgot to mention I'm willing to do trades especially for mr2s.

might help if you put down how much you are looking for $$$
and what model MR-2 you want.. AW11 SW20

Ah yes, my bad, well, i was hoping for something in the $1500 range obo of course.
There is one thing wrong with the car....pw windows don't work, it needs new bolt regulators (which I have) and I can either have the shop install them or the new owner can do it. Other than that, AC works, pw windows work, auto door locks work, defroster works.
edit: I would ideally like to get an na MKII MR2 but that would probably take a bit of cash on my part, I'd be interested in MK1 also though.

Further details
Interior, there is a rip in the drivers seat at the usual place, otherwise the interior is in good shape, I'll vacuuem a bit before selling of course :). Auto seat belts work but for some reason the side belt on the passenger side doesn't go in properly. Drivers side is fine.
Exterior: One quarter panel has been replaced, the other has a minor dent in it. Neither noticeable unless close. The hood is push up slightly but open/closes fine, I didn't even notice this until recently. Front lip is not in great shape, lights work but don't go up/down. There is no actual frame damage only cosmetic.
I realize this sounds pretty bad but it's not. I would rather describe the car as worse than it is than better for now, I prefer prospective buyers to actually see/drive the car as opinions about body condition can be very subjective.

Just wanted to clarify, the car has been repaired. Coolant leak fixed, hoses replaced and new waterpump. Car runs fine now.

I'm fairly sure the car will make another 2000 miles easily. I would recommend changing all the fluids beforehand though as you would on any long trip.

That being said, I was hoping to get more than $1300 for it.
edit: also, I'd prefer potential buyers to actually see the car, or have someone they can trust look at it. Everyone has a differing opinions (in general) so it might be best to get second person to look at it firsthand. I say this because I know harshly the lesson of buying long distance (not this car though) and I regret it.

car looks grey in those pics...
hows the paint? faded?
Firelance
02-18-2003, 12:29 AM
The paint is not faded, it's still black. At night it looks flat black (but i guess a lot of cars do :D ) the grey is probably coming from the light. It could however use a paint a touch up. Especially on the front and rear bumper.

Well the previous buyer got some money together and has decided to buy an S14 instead. So the car is still for sale and will probably be up for sale for the next few months.

As far as I know, no SOHC 240sx had LSD. I believe they were including from 91 and up with cars that had HICAS.

Yeah I guess I should have, I just finished finals though so I've been busy. People have been offering around 1500 for it so far but some are waiting on selling their own cars or trying to get loans.

yup, another bump
bla, free bump for a good deal, tho why say $1500 obo if you won't go lower?
I'd buy it if you weren't umm...on the opposite side of the country.
Firelance
04-09-2003, 01:21 AM
thanks for the bump, heh, well, I will go lower, it's just that at the time I got the offer for $1300 I also had an offer for $1500 but not longer
I may be driving from Seattle to NYC this summer if anyone is interested in taking it from me along the way. Willing to go down to california too. Of course this is summer so it's a long way off.

I'll give you $1500 for it, if you can meet me in SoCal in mid-May. I'll be doing a road trip with some friends in May, and will have cash in hand to buy all sorts of toys for my car. Let me know!
Thanks,
Charles Weller

hmm, may is a little early, I might be able to do it on a weekend, I'd prefer not since school will be wrapping up around then.
Where are you from? I might be able to just drive there in June.
Lavondyss
04-09-2003, 07:50 PM
Well, I won't be in SoCal until school is wrapped up for me after May 9th... so I understand that. You probably won't want to do the drive to where I live. Houston/Dallas Texas. The car will be built up in Houston (where my friend's shop is), but I'm moving to Dallas in June. It's just hard to find a decent condition 89-93 black coupe. I'm actually getting frustrated, because I've been looking for one for 7 months now, and the money is burning a mean mean mean hole in my pocket.
Thanks,
Charles Weller

Texas....long drive alright :). Well, if it comes to that time in june and I haven't sold the car and you haven't found another one I'd be willing to subtract the cost of shipping from the price of the car. (depending on how much shipping is).
Only problem is that you wouldn't get a chance to check it out yourself first. Same issue with meeting up in Cali actually.

Shipping to Tx from Oregon will be around $600-$850. So, it wouldn't be worth it for you to take it out of the price of the car. I appreciate the offer though. We'll just see how things pan out. My Cousin's fiance lives in Oregon... and it's a long shot, but I could pay him to drive it down here... lol, He may not be too excited, but it would be a free trip for him and then some. Let me brain storm, and see what we can work out.
Thanks,
Charles Weller
