hello, i will be picking up my s14 tommarow morning. i was planning to rent a full car trailer to tow it home as its about 200 miles away and not legal. i was told our van couldnt pull it so i needed to rent a dollie. i was told i would have to disconnect the driveshaft. why is this neccesary? and does it really have to be done? thanks, matt

If it's an automatic you need to remove the driveshaft or tow it with the back wheels off the ground. If it's a 5 speed, just put the tranny in neutral and tow away! The reason for this is an automatic trans oil pump is in the front of the tranny driven off the engine, so if your pulling it with the driveshaft in place your spinning the "guts" of the trans without any oil pressure to lube the internals....... it will pretty much smoke the tranny.
