times are tough. I went through something similar. earlier this year I was looking for more work. in the past (few years ago) I was able to find something in less than 2 weeks, and I didn't even bother with a cover letter. these were $15 ho-hum admin jobs.

This year, I might get 1 interview for every 20 resumes I sent out. basically applied to the same shitty office jobs with similar pay (surprised the pay is more or less the same compared to even 5 yrs ago). plus I have the cover letter, and much more under my resume by now. I didn't get a single job and ended up going back to one of my old employers.

No doubt the job market must be extremely tough right now. Good luck. I'm sure with due diligence you will find something decent. if you're desparate enough, I'm sure a temp agency might find you a paycheck soon.

it's very easy to over-eat at that place. the food is tasty there. it's relatively cheap for what it is. The wait can get pretty long though.
