Contrary to a previous report that <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/20/nissan-drops-launch-control-from-2010-gt-r/">Nissan intends to drop Launch Control</a> from the 2010 GT-R, Motor Trend's blog is reporting that no decision has been made yet and we've heard the same thing from Nissan itself. The bigger point that MT goes on to make is that even without Launch Control, the GT-R is still brutally fast. When the magazine got its first crack at the R35, testers did an acceleration run just for giggles with all the electronics aids active except for Launch Control. The result? 3.9 seconds to 60 mph by just mashing the skinny pedal all the way down. That's enough speed to keep the GT-R running in the same pack with which it's already been lumped, and with the computers doing the work, there's no risk of stalling at launch and getting smoked by a '93 Duster. So what've we learned? Without risking a $20,000 transmission replacement, the GT-R is still a rocket. <br><br><div><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-nissan-gtr/">In the Autoblog Garage: 2009 Nissan GT-R</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-nissan-gtr/940153/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/nissanskylinegtr_abg_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title=""></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-nissan-gtr/940154/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/nissanskylinegtr_abg_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title=""></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-nissan-gtr/940155/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/nissanskylinegtr_abg_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title=""></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-nissan-gtr/940156/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/nissanskylinegtr_abg_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title=""></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-nissan-gtr/940157/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/nissanskylinegtr_abg_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title=""></a></div><br>[Source: <a href="http://blogs.motortrend.com/6356422/technology/so-just-how-slow-is-a-nissan-gt-r-without-launch-control-engaged/index.html">Motor Trend</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/24/nissan-gt-r-will-do-3-9-second-0-60-em-without-em-launch-cont/">Nissan GT-R will do 3.9-second 0-60 <em>without</em> Launch Control</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 24 Nov 2008 14:28:00 EST. With the tires, well they just shouldn't have released the US spec R35 with the Bridgestone RE-050. The 04 STi had the similar (if not the same) tire. It wasn't the best tire to begin with, and surely there must be much better choices by now. Of all things, Nissan should have made a better choice to represent the best of what their company has to offer.

I'd be really happy if the Dunlops the 2010 model used were actually the Z1's.

definatly true, i can agree the car needs better rubber.

ditch the run flats....guys on nagtroc have swapped out the run flats and have seen big improvments with lap times.

they should of come with potenza re-o1r's

Hey at least they dont turn off like the BMW m3s do during fast downshifts LOL

And next they should run a test with the lower boost and a less flowing exhaust... get real
