There are 3 tracks that I intend to have long-term lap time competitions with. Tsukuba, Mid Field, and I am going to add the nurburgring. I will keep a list of the top 10 fastest drivers at each track.

PLEASE be honest. There is no point to being first in the rankings if you had to cheat to get there.

The rules:
1- all cars must be production cars or tuner shop cars, NO race cars or supercars allowed
2- NO nitrous!

WEEKLY TIME-ATTACKS

In addition to these long-term battles I also encourage others to run weekly time-attacks. You MUST PM me with your suggestion and I will select one weekly. I will try to work everyone in, but it will take some time, so be patient. You can set up the rules to however you like, so if you want a supercar battle, or a JGTC battle it's cool. If you intend to run a weekly battle you MUST update your rankings daily and you must list the top 10. If you cannot update your rankings daily then don't try to run a battle.

WEEKLY BATTLES WILL BEGIN AT 12:01 am ON MONDAY MORNING AND END AT 12:00 am ON THE FOLLOWING MONDAY

My rules for the weekly battles:
1- tires are un-restricted unless specified in the specific battle rules
2- mods on production cars, tuner shop cars, and supercars must be un-restricted
3- you may NOT modify the engine on racecars, it MUST remain stock
4- NO nitrous
5- NO tcs or asm

Other than that it is up to the member that is running the battle. I will post the top 3 results from each weekly battle here.

Meh, honestly I am more worried about people trying to sneak nitrous and tcs in than I am about them lying about times. I'll be honest, on the first time I set with the FD RX-7 I had TCS set on 2. I really didn't think about checking for that untill after the time had been posted. I am looking forward to the nurburgring times, that should be really fun and separate the men from the boys so to speak. I already have the first weekly time attack set-up and I think I am going to do the second one myself, I wanna have a rally car battle in the dirt. That'll be fun!

The more I think about it, the more I do not like mid-field as the third track. I am going to set-up a vote on sunday for a better track. I am thinking a street track or something REALLY twisty and technical would be the way to go.

Fuji is cool, but boring for the most part. Deep forest is a classic gran turismo track so that is worth considering. I was thinking about monaco (cote d azure) or there is one tarmac rally course that is friggin insane twisty. I wanna put a track on the list where lower powered cars could be competitive. In order to do that it needs to be REALLY twisty. Keep the suggestions coming though, I will consider all of them and the top 5 or so I will have a vote on.

My Suggestions for the new track is either Cote 'de Azur (SP?), or Trial Mountain (I'm leaning towards this track because, its well known among GT players and it has a little bit of everything)

Here's my fastest in a fully built S13 on the 'ring, no NOS, no traction aids, and super slicks. 6'46.387. That was when I was good. I'll be working on beating that now. Don't mind the dates I never set the date/time on my ps2. But, I'd like to see another s-chassis beat that.

Looks like wookie384 is going to be quite a bit off the pace! I am going to play on the ring tomorrow early morning. I gotta get a new adapter for my ps2 though. The screen is REALLY grainy and it makes it hard in dark spots on the track. I think I am going to use the RX-7 though, the lotus would be FIREY DEATH on the nurburgring. No possible way could I keep that monster on the track.

Well I tried the RX-7 at the ring, but it was waaayyyyyy too twitchy there, so I switched to my favorite GTR. I ran a 6:34.194 with the GTR. If I could have simply stayed on the track for a full lap I would have run at least 10 seconds faster as I spun twice and went off like 2 or 3 more times. I'm sensing that the time to beat will end up being a 6:1x.xxx or maybe even in the high 6:0x.xxx.

crazy what a little change in suspension geometry can do.. i adjusted the alignment and the downforce a little and dropped my time by a full second

Thanks man. I had to edit it 3 or 4 times before I got it to where I was happy with it. I have added your time to the list. I'm surprised that none of the forza2 guys have started a ranking in here. They seemed to be pretty into it as well. I PMed everyone about the nitrous use in their times and everyone except suprafreak1000 has gotten back to me. If I don't hear from him in a couple days I will just disqualify his time.

Anyways. I just ran a 7:10.896 on the Nurburgring with it. Went off track a bunch of times. I suck at that track.

A NSX-R is fine, but a NSX-R LM road car is not. Remember it MUST be a production car the LM automatically disqualifies it as a production car. It would however be legal in a supercar battle as it is a limited production supercar.

EDIT: I took the GTR back out and ran a full lap at the ring without spinning or going significantly off track and improved my time some. I also took it to tsukuba just to see what it had. If I REALLY decided to push it I could probably knock-out a high 47 second time.

Old times, haven't played in nearly a year.

Times 1 through 4 were all boost with TCM, times 5 through 9 were completely showroom stock except for an oil change, no aids.

I'll see what I can do with my GT-Rs but I'm soooooooooo rusty having not played for a year and I was using TCM to tune out lift off oversteer in the GT-R.

So I got the "go ahead" from Aron, and this week (11/24 to 12/01) is Trial Mountain. Rules are as following;

The rules:
1- All cars must be production cars or tuner shop cars, NO race cars or supercars allowed
2- NO nitrous!
3- NO TCS or ASM
4- Tires are unlimited
5- Modifications are unlimited

Note: Although tuner cars are permitted, No race varations are allowed from tuner shops. (EX: Spoon S2000 Race Car, RE Amemeya JGTC300 Race Car, or HKS D1, those are race cars that are built by tuner shops. Simply put, if it has a race paint scheme/graphics, it is not allowed!

While the weekely battle, (which is currently Trial Mountain) is managed by someone else within the thread, and handed off to another person to pick the track and rules each week, correct?

i'm not gonna doubt the supra lap time. i took mine to the ring and it was quicker than my viper in a couple sectors. it's just very touchy and i couldn't put together a clean lap.

I obviously don't doubt that that car set that time, I just find it unlikely that it is possible to set that time without the help of driving aids and/or nitrous. I don't doubt the viper time because in my experience the viper is waaayyyyyyy faster than the supra and a lot easier to control. Maybe it is easier to control with a steering wheel? IDK what he used to set that time. I consider myself pretty well schooled in the capabilities of pretty much every production car in GT4 as I have tested all of the worthwhile ones at tsukuba myself. After I got bored of actually racing I did an uber complete time attack of every single car that I could think of at tsukuba. Judging by my personal experience with the supra it just doesn't add up. Anyways I am NOT going to disqualify the time so it really doesn't matter. We'll just have to beat it!

lol i don't like vipers either, but that sum'bitch is fast! the supra or the z06 both brake and turn better, but the shear power of the viper just dominates on these longer tracks.

Yeah, I also hate the viper simply because it was one of the "cheater" cars throughout the series haha. Yeah, I NEVER used the analog stick for GT until GT5 Prologue came out. Until then, it was always too sensitive for me.

When I get my new AV cable for my comcorder I will try to record that run so you can see. It was flawless I didn't even go off road at anypoint. I double checked the supra and I never bought NOS for it.

i was gonna give a shot at this, but then i realized i now suck at GT4 lmao.. too used to sim racing on my pc with a steering wheel, that GT4 just doesnt feel right to me anymore =(

I never got to really use my wheel for GT4. Never had a place to mount it :(. It is fun with the wheel just really sensitive.

..not to mention the rest of the track with steep elevation changes... i became fully airborne so many times, and a slight tap of anything in the air; gas, steering, or brake, means you're gonna spin out (or lose a lot of traction) once you come back down.

the ring is fun though :) with its high speed stretches.. just so hard to control

..i guess the mines r34 isnt the fastest car.. looking at the other times on the rank.. but, imo, its a very fun car to drive

nurburgring gives you no mercy with its curbs! they're so steep they'll throw you in the air if you hit em too hard. ...
..not to mention the rest of the track with steep elevation changes... i became fully airborne so many times, and a slight tap of anything in the air; gas, steering, or brake, means you're gonna spin out (or lose a lot of traction) once you come back down.

yeah i kind of dont like it because its so unforgiving... but the challenges on that track are very unique and fun

that was the hardest one for sure. i only won the event by less than a tenth. i spent a week to beat that one. however, i might try to do it again now that i've been putting in so much time on the ring lately.

Don't feel bad, I haven't even managed to catch the last car in that challenge yet! That's the only challenge that I haven't beaten too.

Lemme run some laps in my ford GT and I will decide from there. I anticipate total decimation of the posted top times and if that happens I just can't allow it. The lotus and the viper are fast, but not to that next level of fast like the ford GT is in my experience. I will try to be fair, but there has to be a cut-off somewhere and I have established that cut-off at the ford GT. Corvettes and rx-7's are still competitive with the viper and esprit, but not with the ford GT. That is why I established the cut-off where it is. Arguing with me will get you nowhere, just trust that I am making every effort to be fair.

... So I finally caved and got an '03 Viper and tuned it, It's way faster than the original Viper! I don't know about the Esprit, but I think the Viper should be considered a supercar, it makes 500 HP stock and puts down 1032 HP fully tuned, If I'm not mistaken its got a power/weight ratio of 1.2! I we should also add to the rules that any car with a power to weight ratio of less than 1.5 or something of the sort should not be allowed. IMHO.

BTW...You guys know that the Trial Mountain challenge is still going on until Sunday night, right? I haven't recieved any more PM's with anyones times.

i like this track except for one thing:

you can use the run-off areas to cut/widen some of the corners. and theres really no way to tell if someone is doing that. my lap was all within the course. i could probably get into the 1.24's if i use the run-offs.

i guess i've had this bias that they're heavy and oversteer a lot but it seems that the boost and weight reduction did wonders for its performance

nah, not in real life anyways. in the game there is no tire wear and the grip is constant. and i think the performance in the game is sometimes better than real life. just look at the tsukuba times in the game vs. real life, they're way off.

yeah i'd have to agree with that. i sometimes feel the performance in GT4 is Too good. one of the things i notice, i dont know if it's just me, but I feel that the braking ability of the cars is way too good. Many of the cars seem to go from 60 to 0 in a split second.

i think that forza handles physics much more realistically

I ran a 1:32.513 with my '01 impreza rally car. I don't know if I can get it down to a 1:30 though as the 32 was a pretty close to perfect lap. Since the impreza is my only rally car I guess I have to try.

the 03 impreza has more power than the earlier years. that helps, although i got into the 30's with the 300hp 206. the hardest part is keeping a low angle in the corners. yeah it's fun to slide around at a real steep angle, but it's not as fast. looks sweet in the replays though!
