So im trying to pick out some drag radials for a new set of wheels im waiting on. 17x8. I really wanted to go with Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials but I dont think I can find the right size. on their websites and summit's website is only shows 275/40 for 17". Ive looked at BFG's website but for some reason didnt list the 225/45's found on tire rack. also looked at the Nitto 555 in 245/45.
right now im leaning toward the Nittos because of the sizing. anyone have experence with one or more of these tires? ive seen how bfg's perform, with are actually pretty good up here but i havent seen either the MT or Nittos. only heard that the MT's are the best. if someone has any input or can point me towards more sizes i havent seen that would help out a lot! thanks

Yeah they are, they are great drag cars, what are you talking about? haha
I was the only 240sx drag racer in the street tire classes in socal back in the day (02-04) NHRA Sport Compact series.
Anyways I liked the BF Goodrich Comp TA for competition (shaved) and the ET Streets for street racing. Hated the ET streets for competition at track
Nittos are popular in japan because they have great treadwear rating. I will probably be putting those on my car on the Enkie's I have now, then grabbing a set of 17x9 for r-comps for track days.

I never said that they couldn't be competitive drag cars, I just said that they are not frequently used for that. The truth is that if you REALLY wanna make a 240 a REALLY competitive drag car you need to do something about the camber gain on compression in the rear suspension. You don't want that in a drag car, you want 0 camber ideally. Which is why drag cars have primarily solid rear axles.

Are you getting these for drag racing only, or for daily street use? How much power you have ect....
I would for sure go with the 245 or a 255 if you can find it.
I just started to run 275/50/15 MT ET drags on 15x8 Weld draglites with stock suspension at the drag strip. But let me tell you thats one crazy ride out there(its about 20miles on not so nice roads) Only got to make about 8 passes on them. Need to get something done with my tune cause i can't do a big enought burn out to heat them properly with out flooding the car out when trying to stop by the tree.

its my summer DD that I take out to the drag strip a few times a month. this year i was putting down 280whp, next season im shooting for around 400. I cant really find that may sizes in 17, so im thinking the Nittos will have to do

Nitto's suck let me tell you, they dont hook for shit, but they last long. I drag race and the best drag radials are Hoosiers, but they arent reliable for street daily driving,so if you want a mix of daily and good drag tire go with the M/T's.275 can fit on that rim. and S chassis are Great all around Cars, Drift,Drag,Auto cross. 280 whp should be around a 110 Trap. Mickeys are your best bet. 555's dont hook well or they will need a hell of alot of heat.

You gatta match you tire to your power. Thats the trick you dont want to much or to little tire.Im sure you can find someone with a simular set up as you and go by that and figure out what you need.
And i personally dont think IRS is for drag racing...

Also, have you thought about putting slicks on your OEM rim?
400whp with a 245 drag radial is not going to get you far. I am looking for more traction, and I have a 275.
