Im just trying to figure out if a 96 240sx with a non white faced gauge could be considered an SE. Is the white faced gauges only on the SE's or could it be on bases also? Any help will be much appreciated.

me s13 driver, me don't know about s14's.

but from what i know, all SE has white gauges for s14. another way to find out if a s14 is SE is look at the wheel lugs, SE usually have 5 lug opposed to the base which have 4 lugs (but than, they can do the lug conversion and tell you it's a SE, i don't know...)

I'm about 99% sure that only SE's had the white faced gauges. An easy way to check and see if your car is an SE is just to look at the bolt-pattern. If its 4-lug then its not an SE if its 5-lug then it is. Although, someone could've done the 5-lug swap on a base. Well, check and see if your car has anti-sway bars. No bars: no SE
Hope this helps.

Edit: Ah crap, meowth, you beat me!

psshh, why don't u copy what i said? bwa ha ha  about the anti-sway bars... i don't know if that statement is always true. my car is a base, and it came w/ front/rear anit-sway bar... maybe it was an option?

Something else that always seems to cause confusion is that a Canadian car that is an SE will not have white face gauges. Their SE is the US base. Their SE is the US LE.

Ok, but then what is the Canadian base model? Does is just lack all power options?
