1. Open Firefox.
2. Type about:config in the address bar and press Enter.

HTTP PIPELINING

HTTP is the application-layer protocol that most web pages are transferred with. In HTTP 1.1, multiple requests can be sent before any responses are received. This is known as pipelining. Pipelining reduces page loading times, but not all servers support it.

1. In the filter bar type network.http.pipelining. Make sure under the value field is says true. If not double-click to set it.

2. Return to the filter bar and type network.http.pipelining.maxrequests. Double-click this option and set its value to 30.

HTTP PROXY

1. Go to the filter bar and type network.http.proxy.pipelining. Once it opens double-click it to set it to true.

NGLAYOUT INITIALPAINT DELAY

Mozilla applications render web pages incrementally - they display what's been received of a page before the entire page has been downloaded. Since the start of a web page normally doesn't have much useful information to display, Mozilla applications will wait a short interval before first rendering a page. This preference controls that interval. Right-click (Apple users ctrl-click) anywhere in the about:config window and select New and then Integer from the pop-up menu.

http://www.helpero.com/images/howto/howto_31_9.jpg

1. Enter nglayout.initialpaint.delay in the New integer value pop-up window and click OK.

2. You will be prompted to enter a value. Enter 0 and click OK.

That's it. Enjoy.

Thought this was general knowledge dudes!

The settings stay even when you update to a newer version of Firefox, which is nice.

It worked great for older versions of Firefox, but if you have the newest version it doesn't really make that much difference anymore.

I took all of mine off it slows down the whole browser the only thing I have is CLEAN CACHE. If you don't have it or even clean out your cache before i recommend you do it even week or two weeks depends on how much you surf I do it everyday. Trust me it will speed up firefox

Here's the app
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1801Here's a video to do it without the app

adblock plus, avg safe search, flashgot, and noscript!

I used to use adblock plus and noscript but then I downloaded a program called admuncher. It basically does what those two apps are meant to do but at less when I want to see a flash video online I dont have to go and allow it

These changes did not like the internets at my job, so I undid them.

What did it do to your internet at work? I did this on my Firefox at the office and it isn't very noticeable but we have stupid fast internet here, so I'll likely not see a difference. Just curious that since I'm don't see a noticeable difference I want to make sure I'm not applying adverse effects to my browser/network.

all pipelining does is cram a shitload of http requests into one packet, instead of send/wait, send/wait. unfortunately, all sites don't support it so you may not see a speed boost over the entirety of the internet.

IIRC, I remember reading it's bad to have the pipelining requests that high. It benefits you, but bogs down the server...
