Hey, we are in the middle of a swap and can't figure out what this is or what it does? The computer was under the dash on the left side(sitting in the car). Following from this part, the wiring went through the clip's firewall along the left fender to the relay box. Anyone, anyone?

I'd have to say that is an ecu. Seeing as the JDM car is a mirror image of ours, and that the location and wire loom you're talking about is on the opposite side as ours... it's the ecu.
Also.. the harness plug looks like my harness plug for the KA.

THIS IS INCORRECT!

It could be the ABS ecu. Where did you pull it from?

That's no ecu. It might help if you told us what year the clip was from.

Good call Duff... the connector is too short for the ecu.

Then I have no clue what that could be.. the only things up front are alarm, and auto-shifter ecu... you mentioned that your clip was 5-speed or auto?
Sorry about the incorrect post above.. I apparently didn't look close enough.

We have gotten some sleep, and rechecked this post. The prep work has gone well. The clip is an automatic and the computer has a big "B" on it. It's still at the shop. Right before we left, I thought about calling Nissan with the part #...duhhhh. My friend has done well over 20 import swaps, mostly supras, at his shop but never an automatic or SR20. This was a late night question from me when we could figure this thing out.
It's definitely not the main computer, although it came from the same area and had its own harness.
THANKS FOR THE HELP!!!

Probably the HICAS controller.

could be airbag controller, usually it's located right in front of the rear seat.
The answer is....auto tranny controller.
US car with automatic transmission has one also. It controls when to kick down a gear and when to upshifts base on rpm and throttle position. If you are swapping into a car with auto tranny, and wish to keep the auto tranny, then you remove the USDM unit and replace it with this one.
By the way, the automatic controller is a bitch to get to. So be prepared to remove dash, AC motor, and blower to get to it. I am sure you can find it since you pull the SR one off the clip, its just the mirror image of where it should be.
I am not sure if you can use the USDM one instead of the SR one, so i guess you are going to have to swap that one or just gamble on the US one working. But even if it works, the shift point will be below optimal power band of the SR.

Thanks for the help!!!
I posted the reply when my best friend and swap wiz decided to play a joke on me. He freaked me out and just watched me frantically try to figure it out.
P.S. JH was right.
