so got this 30GB iPod in a trade for one of my old Sidekick 3s...it had surface scratches all over it, but it didnt matter since it worked and thats all i cared about.

but after a few months of usage, i noticed that it was developing a line horizontally through the screen, and freezing, and the battery wasnt lasting as long.

so i came across a couple sites that offer replacement parts...

ill keep this thread open to give people who may have the same problems im encountering a place to order replacement parts...but im also going to be showing how i go about replacing these parts to "restore" my fucked up 5th Gen 30GB Ipod Video

meh.
i tried to fix my nano after getting it washed.
but i was a dumbass and broke the little wire tab thing that connects to the HOLD slider.
and broke it.

so i sold it on ebay.
my paypal check just came in.

i had a 3rd gen ipod a few years ago and the screen went out.. i ordered a longer life battery and a new screen plate but eventually it didnt work out too well.. few laters i bought a zune, had a few problems but nothing too serious.. Just gotta take care of em. Ipods are good because of how simple they are.. Zune software is improving.

Unless you're gonna replace the hard drive as well, it's not worth it... 30GB is nearly nothing in today's "High Quality" world...

yeah i was thinking of picking up the new ipod classic around xmas time...but unless my s14 sells, then im going to be using some of that money for some end of the year upgrades before 09 track season

just because its normal doesnt mean it shouldnt get fixed. I have replaced the battery on mine, not the screen but it was pretty straight forward. As long as you take your time im sure everything will be good! :l101:

i have a 5th gen 30gb ipod and for some reason when i connect it to my headunit it doesnt play anything. how can i replace the ipod connector which is at the bottom of the ipod?
