It could be the switch or it could also be the blower motor. I'd work on the switch first--probably a LOT cheaper and easier.

Could you tell me what the difference is between the stock climate control and the "JDM" control?

I'm confused. Do you have a Japanese market S15 or a US S14?
Either way, I have heard that the digital climate control is such a PITA it isn't anywhere worth it. I don't think anyone has even gotten it to work right.

It's probably the resistor. On my s13, when I took out my AC and didn't connect the resistor (didn't know what the hell it was for) the air only worked on 1 (barely) and on 4. It's located right behind the glovebox. It's a metal thing with 2 screws attaching it to a big black box (that holds the evaporator) with a couple of wires connected to it. Take off the glovebox and you'll see what I'm talking about. I don't know if it's the same for an s14, but it's worth a try.

Check the fuse first and then check the switch. 1-3 is on a different circuit than 4 so something in that line is bad.
Nissans are nortorius for this problem.

Thayt's what you get for thinking! :D :D :D :D
Ryan McDonnell, for one, has gotten it to work, and according to him, it wasn't hard since he had a front clip.
I think his website is www.nissan-240sx.com or .org or such.

I have a 94 sentra, and my AC did the exact same thing a year ago. Except my only worked on level 4. then I took it to the nearest Nissan dealer and they said it needed one of two things. They said it needs either a new resistor or a new switch. The resistor only cost $54 with labor to fix, but the switch was gonna cost around $145. So, I went with the resistor, and instead of only the 4th level working, all worked except level 4 now. And I said skrew it cause I am not gonna pay them dumbazzes $145 more for something that "may" work. So I am stuck with all the levels working except 4, and on a hot summer day, level 3 doesn't push out much. It really sucks!

At least I think. Some people can't even do that. Not you, but some people on various boards. :D

If the blower only works in hi, its probably the resistor chip. Its in the blower unit.
