<br>The Nissan GT-R will benefit from a few engineering and cosmetic tweaks for the 2009 model year in Japan, beginning with a slight bump in performance that brings output up from 480 to 485 PS (just under five hp). Other modifications include a larger fuel tank - expanded from 71 liters to 73.8 liters - a slight increase in fuel economy (about .3 km/l), "Nissan" replacing "Brembo" on the brake calipers, a new mounting location for the front license plate and a new paint code for Storm White (changed fro QX1 to QAB).<br><br>Pricing will also increase by another 5% in 2009 and it's expected that most of these changes will be adopted on U.S.-spec vehicles when the "Series II" production run begins next year.<br><br><div><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-nissan-gtr/">In the Autoblog Garage: 2009 Nissan GT-R</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-nissan-gtr/940153/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/nissanskylinegtr_abg_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title=""></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-nissan-gtr/940154/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/nissanskylinegtr_abg_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title=""></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-nissan-gtr/940155/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/nissanskylinegtr_abg_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title=""></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-nissan-gtr/940156/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/nissanskylinegtr_abg_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title=""></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-nissan-gtr/940157/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/07/nissanskylinegtr_abg_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title=""></a></div><br>[Source: <a href="http://www.gtrblog.com/index.php/2008/11/13/nissan-gt-r-2009-model-updates-my09-seri?blog=4">GTRBlog</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/13/2009-nissan-gt-r-to-get-5-hp-bump-and-tweaks-in-japan/">2009 Nissan GT-R to get 5-hp bump and tweaks in Japan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 13 Nov 2008 13:58:00 EST. Oh man, that sucks for all the people who bought the 08 GT-R, now they are stuck with an underpowered, lower gas mileage supercar compared to the 09.

Fuck.

my thoughts exactly. I'd call up my local nissan dealership and complain!

thats the risk that people take when buying a new car in its first year of production. Didnt i hear somwhere that the 09 wrx got like a 41 hp bump compared to the 08? (that might have been a rumor but look into it) and I know the first production year (2003) of the neon srt4 had 15 less hp and no lsd when compared to the 04-05 models.

5 hp for a 5% price increase...unless they improved something more important than the...license plate mounting location....I doubt they are gonna care much lol

and this might be my inner ricer speaking but....i would rather have my calipers say brembo. I mean damn im paying for the name so put it on there lol

the only thing that sucks is that the 08 owners will be laughed at by all the bigger meaner owners of the 09+ models. They will be shunned by the nissan community and will have to go threw years of therapy and might very well start commiting suicide in mass numbers AROUND THE WORLD!!!!!

But it still doesn't have a near-indestructible 6 spd, brembos, DCCD, as big a TMIC, as big a turbo, worse interior...

We just had this conversation on another forum I'm on... Stock for stock yeah, but start modding and the STi takes it... especially after you blow a WRX 5spd....

my question is this.... 2.8L of fuel is an extra 6.16 lbs, but only about 4.75 hp....... so would that make the new GTR slightly slower or faster if all being equal

The Sti tranny Is just as crappy as the wrx tranny. Subbie fails at trannys.

Sti Interior Isnt all the different than the wrx, Wrx gets Subaru's 4 piston brakes,

You say stock for stock. Did you know they have the same engine?
