Finally took the car to the dragstrip after putting the Z32 tranny in and an AEM EMS. Car has a very conservative tune and has FULL Interior with about 40 square feet of dynamat extreme as well as one JL Audio 10w3 in the trunk. I know the car has more in it as I can shave a tenth off the 60 foot and run a couple more pounds of boost as well. I should be in the mid elevens with this setup. I know most everybody drifts on this forum, but I figured a few people would enjoy this video.

Sorry OP. car is excellent. looks like it was put together real well, and congrats on the time. up the boost and take out some unnecessary stuff and you will deff get mid 11's. a guy that i know that builds Outlaw 10.5 cars told me every hundred pounds taken out equals a 10th of a second gained on the 1/4mile. so there you go.

Haha. Thanks for the props everybody! I was going to comment on the whole Glenn Danzig/Misfits argument but I opted to stay away!
Yeah, I'm going to go to the strip again shortly and run about 20 pounds and try and work on my 60 foot a little bit more. Without doing anything else, car should run 11.6xx or so.

Car made 420whp and 325wtq on a dynojet at 19 PSI before I went from a Rom Tune to an AEM EMS. So, i would assume about the same.

Yeah, I actually have a motor I'm almost done building. Manley Turbo Tuff Rods, CP 86.5mm 9:0:1 Pistons, JWT C1 Cams, Supertech Valve Springs, blah, blah, blah, that I'm going to run Race Gas and about 24 to 26 PSI on. That setup *should* be good for 10.9's or so I hope.
Suspension setup is KTS coilovers with full soft in the rear and about half soft/half firm in the front. I'm also running about 2 degrees negative camber with Footwerks Rucas, Traction Rods, and Toe Rods in the rear. That's pretty much it!

All your car needs is windshield wipers and the catch can routed oem style and you'd be set.
Car looks nice.

there should be a few more tenths left in that setup. I talked to a guy at an import faceoff and he had almost the same setup other than the exh. mani and cams.

Quoted from a catch can thread.
Ok, is this the idea here?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v505/240trainee/Idea1.jpg
If not, what did I get wrong, and I'll make another.
Yeah that's the Ideal for stock.
How the Air should flow in a stock system.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v108/S14DB/240sx/Engine/SRPCV/PCV1b.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v108/S14DB/240sx/Engine/SRPCV/PCV2b.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v108/S14DB/240sx/Engine/SRPCV/PCV3b.jpg
I will Make a drawing of a ideal setup.
1) Relocated PCV valve inline. Use Hose clamps.
2) Stick a rubber plug where the PCV valve was.
3) Cap the side of the T were the block ran to.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v108/S14DB/240sx/Engine/SRPCV/Idea1Revised.jpg
This allows the air to come in. Collect the gases. Leave the Oil vapors in the catch can. through the PCV valve and into the intake manifold to get burned up.

HAHA. I don't think I could have said it better, even though I don't think poster was trying to bash. Also, thanks on the diagram for running my catch tank OEM style. I wasn't sure how to do that with my current setup, now I do!
Some of those catch can diagrams are wrong. Air only flows to the intake manifold under vacuum conditions(hence the check valve). Air almost always flows INTO the intake from the valve cover.

Just posting that the guy had a very similar setup compared to yours, same size tire, interior, trans, pump gas, pretty much stock shortblock and etc...

Very nice run, great time and ouptut for the 3071R
Thanks Steve. Glad you chimed in. It's actually a GT3076R. What do you make of my trap speed? Does it seem a little low? I had a few 12.4 runs trapping 119ish, but my 12.0 and under runs were all in the 116mph range. Now, my car does have full interior, dynamat, and a sub in the trunk. Maybe killed a mph or two??
Surge S14 and 96Turbo, thanks for the props.

Swap out your coilovers for stock suspension. It will really help with your launch. It will also get rid of some of the camber so you can get more tire on the ground.
Did you notice a difference when you swapped trannys?

Ahhssoo.
I just did 412 whp today with nearly the same setup single scroll with 91 octane...he he he
I need to get out to the strip again, I just have been so busy with new job during the week and other peoples cars on the weekend.
- To answer your questions -
HP = MPH
More fine tuning on a mustang dyno or dyno dynamics is what I recommend.
Or send me your AEM map you have I wouldnt mind messing around with your timing map to see if I can't score you another 20 whp everywhere.
Very awesome job with your car, I have kind of fallen into a slump with mine and am despreratly trying to find time to get back into a helmet wearing mood.

Ehh, I'm not too sure about swapping the stock suspension. I still netted 1.69 60' foot which isnt super, but not horrible. I'm thinking I could net a 1.60 or so with the KTS. As far as gripping, those slicks GRIP. If I don't launch at or near redline the car bogs. I do agree I could get better weight transfer with stock suspension.
As far as the tranny, yes, I noticed a difference, in a negative way mostly. The Z32 Tranny DOES NOT shift anywhere near as solid or smooth as an SR Tranny with a B&M shifter. It takes time to get used to. But, it sure is a hell of a lot beefier than an SR tranny.

better 60 foot, when i first got my car back together at the beginning of the summer i was running 12.8 at 119-120mph
but as your 60 foot gets better youll start trapping a little lower but running faster times.
out of curiousity what are you doing as far as driveshaft and axles, ive got a couple sets of stock axels ive used to learn how to launch, but i want something that can hold up to my new happy (M/T ET streets 26x10.5),
my setup:
redtop
xs engineering crankshaft (11lb rotational mass)
mahle rods
cp pistons 8.5:1
cleavite bearings
apexi 1.1mm head gasket
brian crower 272/272 cams,
hks cam gears
tomei solid pivots
brian crower springs/retainers
tomei rocker arm stopper
i can rev to about 9500rpm if i want to push it
720cc injectors
garett gt3271
cutsom manifold,
apexi power fc djetro
im still on an sr trans, but it has an os giken gear set (i got lucky stupid kid, didnt know what it was and i didnt trust the trans when i bought it so i had it torn open by my mechanic)
clutch master stage 6 clutch
i mean im down to the point where all that needs to be taken care of is the driveshaft, everything else is pretty bullet proof, which tends to happen when you blow up 4 sr20s
i appreciate any advice

I figured the better the 60' the lower the trap speed, but that does not make much sense to me. Oh well.
As far as what I'm using for axles and a driveshaft? I'm using stock 5 bolt axles and the steel driveshaft that comes with the Mazworx Z32 Tranny Kit. So far everything has been holding up beautifully. Lucky you on scoring the OS Giken Gear Set:naughty:

thanks man, im debating what im going to do as far as driveshaft and trans, im afraid of destroying the os giken gearset drag racing since ive killed 3 transmissions already,i think i might go the z tranny route for drag and on the off occasion that i drift ill swap the sr trans back in. id hate to kill that thing.

Nice runs man! I need cams bad! I have a GT3071R TS setup from full race as well, but my motor is completely stock otherwise (no cams, head gasket, intake manifold, or anything. Just FMIC and exhaust!). I only ran a 12.30 @ 117 mph with a terrible 1.9 60 foot on 255 26" MT Drag Radials on an unprepped track, lol. I was also running about 19psi on a crappy mail order tune. I'm in the process of building my motor finally right now, so Hopefully I'll get out of the 12's!
