What brand gas and what octane rating do you guys use?

Ive been using Sunoco 94 octane for my sr powered 240 as well as my 1J powered JZX90.


it seems that the sr and 1J do not like running high boost with 91 octane.

Have you guys notice performance difference between companies?

When I used to make a trip from Houston to DFW almost every weekend back in 05-06 I tested a few different brands. Shell, Texaco, Sunoco ect ect all 91 or 93 octane. I averaged the best MPG with shell by far. Would by the end of the trip have at least 1/8 of a tank gas more with Shell 93 VS. any other brand with the same octane rating.

Yea, the DOHC at least has a sticker on the inside of the door that states "Premium Fuel Only". Shouldn't matter though. That's what a knock sensor is for.

I agree i pumped 91 at arco cause it was like 10cents cheaper there i believe and then one day i decided to go to shell just to try it out and for some reason my car felt a lot better with the 91 on shell (sr20). it felt a lot more responsive :ugh:

i really could care less what oil company its from. all i know is i fill up with around $25 and get almost 400 miles per tank. i dont pay for the membership. i used to work there and my manager let me keep my executive card after i left. my card has no exp. date. been over a year now. how were u trying to prove me wrong again?

I somehow pull 400 whp out of SR's with horrid 91 octane, I can't remeber the last time I did a tune on race gas, I miss it.

One time i used VP racing Fuel U2. Thats probly the highest and cleanest gas to run in your car VP wise. You can also go with C12 and i think theres C6. U2 is like 80.00 per 5 gallons HA but it makes a HUGE differance in your car trust me.
