wats up everybody im having a little difficulty making my STRI water temp gauge work, i bought the greddy adapter to install the water sensor, one thing i noticed is that it does not have a ground stud on it. so i install everything and and i turn the car on for a while and the needle doesnt move at all. my stock sender reads the normal temp it use to read but the STRI gauge reads 0. so i try to ground the adapter but what happends next trips me out, the needle goes all the way to the top and stays there when i turn on the car. any advice on my situation would help me out thank you.

Power and ground going to the gauge?

yeah there are 3wires that go to the gauge. red, black, and a green one that goes to the sensor, and all of them are connected

you most likely have to ground the sensor in the temp adapter since the sensor is not grounded because its in the rad hose and not the block, try running a ground wire from the sensor body to a ground and see if it works, that should be the problem, if not and everything else is correct then something is wrong with the gauge and/or sensor

sell the stri, i heard they are crap and will eventually read inaccurate. especially using it to monitor something vital. i got the aem water temp gauge and it work like charm.

Well have you put a test light to the power wire to make sure power is going to the gauge.

i have tried the testlight and the red wire has power and the ground has ground. the gauge lights up fine the same way all the other ones do it just wont read. i have tried grounding the sensor body but the needle on the gauge just goes all the way to the max and stays there.

Might just be a bad gauge did you buy it new?

if your grounding the sensor body and your gauge needle pegs, your gauge is good. it doesn't have to have a ground stud on it. for example your stock temp sensor is one wire. because it grounds itself to the engine through the sensor body. you can trying plug your sensor into the water jackets.

Hey are you sure the black is ground? I have one of the stri water temp gauge too, but i thought the black wire goes with the sensor though. Well im not sure, i have to double check on that tomorrow since ill install it tomorrow. I'll let you know.

Well i just install the gauge today and the solution to your problem is to go back to the temp sender and find a better plug to screw it the black wire on right and it should give you the right signal, this is because i had the same problem. Hope that helps you
