I have had this problem ever since i bought the car and the cigarette lighter and defroster dont seem to work. When i push the defroster button i get the light to turn on but the defroster doesnt defog the window even after a 1/2 hour of me driving with it on. I checked all the fuses and cant seem to find out what the problem is. Has anyone had this problem or know what steps i should take next other than setting my car on fire! JP,lol

Cig lighter is probably the fuse under the dash, I pop mine all the time.

As for the the Deforster check the connection on the back window (should be a spade teminal in one of the corners) make sure is connected

i know the spade connector is plugged in but when i used a tester i didnt get any reading at all

Where you are probing and what setting are you using on the tester?

i think i set it on dc current with one of the probing clips on a ground and the other on one of the defroster prongs and i tested both of the prongs.

Did you check both 15A fuses under the dash??

Someone has scraped the grid on the glass, breaking a few of the lines. Very common when removing window tint.

no i checked all of the lines but the real problem is that i am not getting any voltade from the spade connectors

I won't want voltade on them either, since I don't know what the hell that is. You should have voltage on it though, so start checking fuses. You didn't specify model but the defogger timer is part of the TCU on S13s, or the SECU on S14s.

word- with break in the grid. It can be a very small nick sometimes and still cause the defrost to not work... But check fuses first, for sure.

sorry but you know what i meant(voltage) yea i actually looked at the defroster lines and i coudnt find anything. ill check the fuses again

In the fuseblock under the dash (if it's an S14) it's the 4th and fifth one up from the bottom on the right side. They are both 15A fuses.

you won't get any voltage readings if you have your multimeter set to read dc current. you will only get voltage one side unless you place a probe on each connector and check that way. if you have no voltages there then go back further into the circuit which is check the fuse and switch. they other you can do is check for continuity on the defroster lines to make sure you have a complete circuit or if you have a break.

ill take pictures of my defroster lines asap, so you could see what kind of conditon they are in. I asked someone about the grid area where you plug in the wire and he said it looked some what discolored maybe a bad connection. But yea i guess i will check with ac multimeter with a probe on each of the lines.
