Hey everyone, i was wondeing if you could help me out with something. Which is cheaper, buying a SR20DET or just adding a turbo to a 240sx?

Well... I guess you could just bolt up something like a 3-bolt DSM turbo to the stock header, and you'd be just adding a turbo to a 240sx.... of course, it wouldn't actually do anything, but hey, it's adding a turbo to a 240sx. That's gotta be cheaper than buying an SR20DET. Cheapest I've seen the motor is something like $1000. I'm willing to bet you can buy one without a harness, chip, or anything you'd need to install it for less though.
So, the ultimate answer: adding a turbo to the KA is cheaper. Which one is easier, better, or actually works for whatever your intended application is.... that's a whole different story that I'm sure won't be answered before this topic gets locked.

After inquiring about a swap myself, and riding in cars that had and KA-T and also an SR20DET, the KA-T feels much better. The KA is 2.4 Liters (Truck Motor lol :D) and the SR is only 2.0. So if you turbo the KA motor you will have more torque, However my friend who turboed the KA motor did spent more money. So with the SR you have about 20 lbs. less torque but you don't spend as much.
And about just putting the turbo on the car, looks nice, but too bad we can't simulate the sound of a blow off valve!

ah but you can!
I can't remember which ricer site it was, but there are electronic player of BOV and turbo whoosh sounds that you can have at the touch of a button! I've heard it adds over 95HP to the wheels! Datz Icy Hott y0!
Who has a KA+T I can ride in so I can butt dyno it? :P

but could the KA-T with turbo compete with the SR20DET pushing 13-15psi?
