It flashes the seatbelt light. if you disconnect it the seatbelt light won't go on.

Cause the light would go on if you were driving by yourself.

Because the passenger belt doesn't have the annyoying chime sensor that the driver has.

I believe that plug plugs into the female end of the seatbelt (lapbelt). When the plug is connected, and the seatbelt is plugged in, it completes the circuit and turns the seatbelt light OFF (not on). When you disconnect it, the light turns on.

Umm.. guys. In modern domestic cars, there is another wire under the seat(s) for the airbag. If you disconnect it and then run power.. you'll blow your bags. Just be careful.

mines is a 92, so i don't think it has anything to do with the airbag.. probably like most of the guys said it is for the seat belt.

is there a way i can solder the wires somehow to make the system think the seatbelts are on.. i also removed the automatic seatbelt motors.. i hope the lights wont come on from those.. i just want to remove the wiring so it looks clean.. maybe i can remove the chiming system?

I just removed my chime. It's made me forget to turn my marker lights off, or leave my keys in the ignition, but it's worth it to me to remove that annoyance.
