Do you highlight text when you're reading?

I knew I highlighted text as I read it on my monitor (I guess it made it a bit clearer to read), but my habit has worsened! Now I highlight text all over the place and constantly select and deselect it, turning it from black to white over and over, whilst I'm reading it. I do this totally subconciously, and didn't realise until my GF called me on it!

Does anyone else do this or am I just strange? :bite:

EDIT - Dammit, I'm doing it now as I read this back!

I highlight text to mark my place if I am reading a long article and I have to move away for a minute while I am at work.

I actually cant read the internet unless I highlight it. Ive become physically dependant.

Nope not at all... Get your eyes checked... probably astygmatism kicking in.... I know I have it, basically your retina fails to focus light efficiently any more and you just get a halo effect from bright lights. So in terms of text, the brighter background stars encrouching on the actually letters....

I do it quite often also, especially when its a long article cause my eyes start to bunch all over the place yet i have perfect vision.

Nope, I use a laptop with a shitty mouse-touch-pad so its a big PITA to highlight as you scroll across.

i do that a lot, it's a dumb habit. i hate when i go on sites that are all flash, and the text is a picture and you can't highlight it.

i find that i do it also, its mosty to keep my place when reading long articles. It keeps me looking at the right line after i get to the end of the line.

^^haha this thread is hilarious. What sort of syndrome is this that you guys deal with?

I only select the text to copy or paste, or to keep track of where i am reading in a long article.

What if the select feature was taken away from you? Would you flip out? Would you go nuts trying to select something?

Would definitely drive me mad. Like I said, I can't bare to read blocks of text that are images because I can't select it! haha

Hope I shake this habit before I enter the business world or my coworkers are going to think I'm strange.
