I don't know if most of you seen this, but I haven't seen the video before and thought this was one of the most amazing driving of an NSX

I have a feeling that NSX drifts in his spare time.

11-11-2008, 09:45 AM
Nah I think he is a JGTC driver... Come on he was sliding sideways into the breaking area on the OUTSIDE of the F40 and still on his coming onto the straight away... Come on now, not losing speed and drifting around the outside of a car on 5 lap old tires.... That is racing skillz.

Yah I was surprised how the NSXR kept up... Yah Senna died on the track.... He united people all over the world because of his manners, skills, and philosophy. Simply amazing guy, I mean people in China back in the late 80s were even cheering for him...

Simply Legendary guy....

With that, here is the 1st part of that video... just for reference...

Notice all the cars are stock except Tsuchiya's modded out Supra, which couldn't even really keep up.... JZA80s, pretty much junk except in a straight line.... and no JGTC supras were not turbo charged.....

1. Hardly keeping up? Didn't it place?

2. You're on a site dedicated to 240sx's calling a Supra junk, think about it.

3. That thing sounds like sex. I'd roll a bmx bike if it sounded like that.

No, that is "entertainment" you dont think the Best Motoring vids are actual representations of automotive performance do you? You do realize they are made for entertainment value in the Japanese market? To even insinuate that they are "journalism" is a joke.

11-12-2008, 12:59 PM
^^ Yes, but yet they do drive hard and harder than most drivers.... I would not discount their skills, but I would like to say the NSX driver was trying hard.

Most difference comes down to driver and I would like to go out a limb and say that for an F40 or other "expensive" cars they actually drive the piss out of it.

I think the JZA barely placed 3rd....

Let's put this into perspective, a 456GT keeps up with an F40 in the corners in that video, and under braking....

Or even better, two cars, both mid engined....

One has 200hp+ hp more, bigger tires, bigger brakes, similar gearing, weighs 350lbs less, and has an arguably better suspension that is setup for track use. The other car is drifting.

See what I'm driving at? Best Motoring is PURELY for entertainment value, and like any other "country" based Automotive "journalism" they are biased into favoring their own (who isnt?). Do they have some fairly creative "battles"? Sure, but they are all scripted, watch any of their video's (ESPECIALLY ANY INVOLVING A GTR OR NSX) and try and honestly deny that fact. Most of the time it's through a variety of half power, and shit lines to make them seem "closer" when it comes to the finish.

well i think we can all agree that the NSX was a great car... If only Honda had built more influenced sports cars instead of giving us 31 flavors of the civic... lol

Yah but... ergh the F40 is f...ing about 4 times the price and at 456GT's being ergh what 150,000 and F40 somewhere astronomical and rare.... I would be nervous to spin it out..... I mean.... he was driving that F40 carefully..... at that...

But NSX drifting doesn't mean he is losing speed as much as you think... Balance of the car is different.

Yea but on a dry track pretty much anytime you go sideways you only slow yourself down. The NSX driver was just throwing the car into the corners and relying on the other cars to give him room. The F40 driver was being conservative, otherwise the margin would have been greater, not to take anything away from the greatness of the NSX.

Stock for stock, the Supra will out handle a NSX. Also the 70mph to 0 braking times held stock production car records for 11 years. The car to break that record was the Carrera GT.

You just be hatin.

Are you serious NSX-R being out handled by a supra? Hell no.... A S chassis probably out handle that POS in a turn of a boat....

I don't know about a Nsx-R but a regular NSX released in america back in the 90's. Yes.

Well the later generations where V8's in JGTC....

http://ww2.supergt.net/gtcgi/prg/NList02.dll/Code?No=NS004097&List=15

They started using V8's back in early 03....

The NSX-R had carbon parts fitted, so it was lighter, the engine was bumped up along with torque... I think there was different suspension on it too... NSX-Rs are rare and the last generation is about 120K+ USD or more.... Collector cars....

I don't know about a Nsx-R but a regular NSX released in america back in the 90's. Yes.

My friend has a Supped up supra.... Its a piece of junk.... Crazy fast in the straight line, but you do a slalom with it and thing doesn't want to turn, BUT.... in long tracks with less tight turns and less technical, it can hold its own.....

BOROSUN
11-13-2008, 10:37 PM
thats weird mkIv does like avg 66-69 mph on slaloms and pulls .95-.98gs stock.

he was a bit aggressive for my taste, considering he started drifting turns by pushing too hard.

coming on the outside to pass someone mid-turn? you'd basically have to bully someone to do that

NSX did well considering the F40 was noticeably faster in the straight
