Well I took the stripes off of my car. I found that the best way is to just pull on them. Mine came straight up. Then i took some goo gone and rubbed it on the car, then washed it, and it looked so much better. However, my friend and I tried to take the ones off of his car, and they kept breaking. So I took a razor blade and just cut them off like you would take a sticker off of a window. BUT!!!!! If you go that way with the razor blade, be sure NOT to touch the paint with the blade. If you do, you won't like the scratches. :D

If yours break, use a heatgun or a hairdryer to heat the glue before you try to take it off. It'll make it a lot easier.

I did it the hairdryer way and removed my pinstripes in like less than 10 minutes...

an alternative to "goo gone" is carb cleaner. cheaper (maybe) and handier, IMO. just remember to spray the carb cleaner onto a rag and not directly onto the paint. wipe in circular motions until all the residue is gone.

I'd first of all like to extend a nice big "F YOU!" to all those dealers who added pinstripes

It took me two days to remove mine. One day per side.

First, I heated it up with a real heat gun, but the stripe kept breaking ever inch, no matter how slow I pulled. I even tried with different heat levels. I had to really use my finger nails. It was also a double stripe, with about 1/8" between the stripes. Then about an hour with lighter fluid (no joke, lighter fluid!) to get the goo.

I really feel bad for anyone who bought a hardbody. I swear, every hard body I see had different graphics. Usually they look like someone blew thier load down the sides of the truck.

As you can see, I did not have fun removing mine.

Jeff

After hearing all this I feel lucky I didn't have to work so hard to get mine off...make sure u wash your car after u use whatever stuff to remove the glue...could be corrosive to the paint/clear coat.

I had those pinstripes on my car also. There were two of them and they went all along my car...I took them off in maybe half an hour with a blowdryer...maybe it just depends on the weather conditions the car has been through... :D

Mmm, I spent about 2 days on mine as well. I ended up having to use a razor blade (and a very steady hand) to take them off. I just made sure to keep the blade between the glue and the stripe itself. Then later I went back with goo-gone and got rid of the glue. That's what took the most time.

I've been using my thumb and I accomplished 1 feet on one small stripe :(. I cleaned that spot with goo gone. takes lots of scrubing to take off. Not very effective.

They recommend using a plastic razor . it won't scatch the paint :). I havn't had time to buy one myself but I'm sure this will be extremly quick.

Yep...I sprayed WD40 on them and put a hair dryer to it, then scrapped them w/my license. I don't know if WD40 is good for the coat...But my paint job is crap.

Does the wd40 help with the removal. I don't care if it strips some of the clear its fine.

Yeah WD40 aids in the taking off of it. You can use WD for removing gunk and stuff household wise. Or try brake clean. We use that on everything at work to clean parts...But we do have a parts wash.

I'm not trying to remove the glue stuff thats left behind after I peel it. I'm trying to peel it off. I'm having allot of trouble. I've been using my nail. And It HURTS!!!!!!!!! haha. Is there anything to help remove the pin stripe. I have a 1990 240sx and the stuff snaps off after few cm... It sucks.
I'm going to try the i.d. card idea. Maybe that'll help.

Dude...I'm telling you...You're not gonna get it off all in one swipe. I have a '90 as well. And it took me like 15mins just to take it off the door section. Use a hair dryer to warm it up. And use a credit card or a license! Trust me...It's a hooker trying to get it off.

Its pretty gay. I'll see if my i.d. works better. You spent 15 minutes. I spent 1 hour on the front left fender. And I only removed 2 feet!
