My friend has a deposit down on one of these. I hope I get to drive it a couple times.

I like everything about that car but the front fascia. Too many intakes/holes/air dams or whatever you want to call them. I'm liking the FMIC though, that's pretty sweet. As far as performance goes, I think it rocks. I just got my R&T this morning and haven't had a chance to read the whole article yet..maybe after class.

I love everything under the body, but hate the body style (I hate the lancer shape, and its the same thing with a kit basically). But I love the engine.

isnt the Evo faster than the STi?

I haven't seen any 0-60 times for the STi yet but I'm guessing high 4's to low 5's. Which is about the same as the Evolution. The Evolution has around 271bhp and 271lb-ft. The STi has 300bhp and 300lb-ft. The Evo is also a bit heavier (300lbs). If it came down to it, I think I'd put my money on the Sti.

If I'm not mistaken, the US-spec Lancer Evolution is NOT the Evo8. From what was said in the article, it's actually a spruced up evo7 chassis, but with a detuned 4g63... so it's more like a US-spec Evo VII. :)

lol now im confused, but by the numbers the advantage does go to the STi

Plus Subaru has more points in my book than Mitsu (reliablility wise).

19Psi stock? and it still can't match with the STi

Whats the STi boostin?

I should have a chance to drive both, I know one of my friends is definately getting th STi, but the EVO is a bit on the iffy side.

according to the official Evo website, they're callin it the Evo8. however, many auto magazines (R&T, SCC) call it the Evo7.5. the 4GC3 was only detuned to barely comply with US emissions, which is why it only lost 5hp from JPN/EURO counterparts. the "ugly" front fascia was added to meet US crash standards, but y couldn't they have just used something similar to the lancer we have here?

Evo7.5 vs. WRXSti, i'd rather take the Evo just for the fact that i am given a stereo from the factory, rather than having the dealer install a brand new aftermarket stereo at my expense.

Sorry for bringing out an old thread...

http://www.roadandtrack.com/article.asp?section_id=3&article_id=592

Thought you guys would like to see Road and Tracks comparison of the U.S. STi and the Evo. The evo comes out a winner by a small fraction, even though it has 29 hp and 27 lbs of torque less than the STi.

It's an interesting read.
Hope you enjoy.
